Apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving data in communication system

Apparatuses for transmitting and receiving a signal in a communication system are provided. An apparatus of a receive device includes a receiver configured to receive, from a transmit device, a signal comprising remaining bits of parity bits after puncturing, wherein the parity bits are obtained by adding at least one shortened bit to information bits to obtain input bits for an encoding, if a number of the information bits is less than a number of the input bits for the encoding; and a hardware processor configured to determine a number of puncture bits for the parity bits, generate an output signal by adding at least one value corresponding to the number of the puncture bits to the signal, and decode the output signal.

Forward error control coding

A system and method for providing error control coding for backhaul applications are disclosed. Data is first encoded using Reed-Solomon (RS) coding. The output RS blocks are then turbo coded. The size of the output RS blocks is selected to match the input of the turbo encoder. The bits from the RS blocks may be interleaved to create the input turbo blocks. Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) parity bits may be added to the data prior to RS coding.

A method and a decoder for receiving a message encoded in Turbo Codes and modulated for transmission as an analog signal includes: (a) demodulating the analog signal to recover the Turbo Codes; and (b) decoding the Turbo Codes to recover the message using an iterative Turbo Code decoder, wherein the decoding includes performing an error detection after a predetermined number of iterations of the Turbo Code decoder to determine whether or not an error has occurred during the transmission. The predetermined number of iterations may be, for example, two. Depending on the result of the error detection, the decoding may stop, a request for retransmission of the message may be sent, or further iterations of decoding in the Turbo Code decoder may be carried out.

Soft error detection and correction for data storage devices

Various implementations described herein relate to systems and methods for detecting soft errors, including but not limited to, errors introduced after reading a codeword from a non-volatile memory, and before providing data to a host. Embodiments can include decoding the codeword from the non-volatile memory to obtain at least input data, and determining validity of the input data using a first signature after processing the input data through a data path. If it is determined that the input data is valid using the first signature, the input data is sent to a host.

Lookahead priority collection to support priority elevation

A queuing requester for access to a memory system is provided. Transaction requests are received from two or more requestors for access to the memory system. Each transaction request includes an associated priority value. A request queue of the received transaction requests is formed in the queuing requester. Each transaction request includes an associated priority value. A highest priority value of all pending transaction requests within the request queue is determined. An elevated priority value is selected when the highest priority value is higher than the priority value of an oldest transaction request in the request queue; otherwise the priority value of the oldest transaction request is selected. The oldest transaction request in the request queue with the selected priority value is then provided to the memory system. An arbitration contest with other requesters for access to the memory system is performed using the selected priority value.

Transmitter, receiver, and signal processing method thereof

A transmitter and receiver of a broadcasting signal and a method of processing the broadcasting signal are provided. The transmitter includes: a segmenter configured to segment an L1 signaling of a frame into a plurality of segmented L1 signalings such that each of the segmented L1 signalings has bits a number of which is equal to or smaller than a predetermined number; and an encoder configured to perform a Bose, Chaudhuri, Hocquenghem (BCH) and a low density parity check (LDPC) encoding, or the LDPC encoding without the BCH encoding, with respect to the segmented L1 signalings.

Memory system

In general, according to an embodiment, a memory system includes a memory device including a memory cell; and a controller. The controller is configured to: receive first data from the memory cell in a first data reading; receive second data from the memory cell in a second data reading that is different from the first data reading; convert a first value that is based on the first data and the second data, to a second value in accordance with a first relationship; and convert the first value to a third value in accordance with a second relationship that is different from the first relationship.

Channel coding method of variable length information using block code

A method for channel-coding information bits using a code generation matrix including 32 rows and A columns corresponding to length of the information bits includes, channel-coding the information bits having “A” length using basis sequences having 32-bit length corresponding to columns of the code generation matrix, and outputting the channel-coded result as an output sequence. If “A” is higher than 10, the code generation matrix is generated when (A−10) additional basis sequences were added as column-directional sequences to a first or second matrix. The first matrix is a TFCI code generation matrix composed of 32 rows and 10 columns used for TFCI coding. The second matrix is made when at least one of an inter-row location or an inter-column location of the first matrix was changed. The additional basis sequences satisfy a value 10 of a minimum Hamming distance.

Various embodiments include an error correction code (ECC) system that provides protection against various errors in addition to data bit errors. In general, ECC codes protect against data bit errors, where one or more data bits in a data word contain the wrong value. The ECC code is based on the original data bits, such that a data bit error results in a data word that is inconsistent with the ECC code generated for and stored with the data word. The present embodiments generate ECC codes based on address information and/or sequencing information in addition to the data bits in the data word. As a result, the present embodiments detect bit errors in this address information and/or sequencing information. Such errors include write address decoding errors, read address decoding errors, write enable errors, and stale data errors.
