Technique for controlling a beam pattern employed by an antenna apparatus
A technique is provided for controlling a beam pattern employed by an antenna apparatus. The antenna apparatus comprises an antenna array, and beamforming circuitry to employ a beam pattern in order to generate a beam using the antenna array to facilitate wireless communication with at least one further antenna apparatus. Beam pattern adjustment circuitry is then arranged to receive a control signal indicative of a motion being imparted to the antenna apparatus, and to adjust the beam pattern to be used by the beamforming circuitry in dependence on the control signal, so as to alter a width of the beam in order to mitigate variation in link quality of the wireless communication due to the motion. This hence allows the width of the beam deployed by the antenna apparatus to be adjusted taking into account motion being imparted to the antenna apparatus, so that a balance can be achieved between employing a narrow beam to seek to improve range and resilience to interference, and a wider beam to reduce the variation in link quality that might otherwise arise due to the motion.

The BHA may comprise at least one transmitter configured to transmit a pressure pulse and at least one receiver configured to record one or more waveforms. The method may further comprise performing a logging-while-drilling (LWD) operation in which the one or more waveforms are recorded with the at least one receiver, transmitting the one or more waveforms to an information handling system, removing one or more tool mode waveforms from the one or more waveforms to form an updated set of waveforms, and forming differential phase time semblance map based at least in part on the updated set of waveforms. The system may comprise the BHA and information handling system configured to remove one or more tool mode waveforms.
System level occupancy counting in a lighting system with multiple transmitters and a single receiver
System level occupancy counting in a lighting system configured to obtain an indicator data of a RF spectrum signal (signal) generated at a number of times in an area. At each respective one of the number of times, based on results of application of heuristic algorithm coefficients, the lighting system generates an indicator data metric value for each of the indicator data for the respective time. The lighting system processes each of the indicator data metric value to compute a plurality of metric values for the respective time and combine the plurality of metric values to compute an output metric value for each of a plurality of probable number of occupants in the area for the respective time. The lighting system determines an occupancy count in the area at the respective time based on the computed output metric value.
