Press fit stem
12329426 · 2025-06-17 · ·

A method of implanting a medical implant includes resecting a long bone along a shaft of the bone so as to form a resected surface and remove a metaphysis of the bone. A tapered bore is reamed through the resected surface of the long bone and into an intramedullary canal thereof. A tapered portion of a stem of a medical implant is fully seated within the tapered bore so as to form a press-fit between the tapered portion of the stem and the long bone and so that a collar disposed at an end of the stem is offset from the resected surface so as to form a gap between the resected surface and the collar.

Replacement Heart Valve

A heart valve assembly has a valve frame having a cylindrical body with commissure posts connected to an outflow end, and a leaflet assembly sutured to the plurality of commissure posts and the valve frame. The assembly also has an outflow frame having a plurality of connection posts, with each connection post connected to one of the commissure posts. The valve frame and the annulus frame are made from different materials. A delivery system has a balloon catheter having a shaft, a balloon provided on the shaft adjacent the distal end of the catheter, and a frame seat located on the shaft directly proximal to the balloon. The delivery system includes a sheath assembly having a capsule that slidably covers the balloon and the frame seat such that the outflow frame is seated around the frame seat and the valve frame is seated over the balloon.

Heart valve that includes coating material

A prosthetic heart valve that is at least partially coated with an enhancement layer, and a method for inserting the prosthetic heart valve in a patient. The prosthetic heart valve includes an expandable frame, a leaflet structure, and optionally an inner skirt and/or an outer skirt. One or more of the components of the prosthetic heart valve can be partially or fully coated with the enhancement layer. One type of enhancement layer that can be used includes titanium oxynitride or titanium nitride oxide (TiNOx) and/or zirconium oxynitride (ZrNxOy).
