Method and apparatus for responding to events affecting communications in a communication network
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a waveguide system for determining an event associated with a mode of transmitting or receiving electromagnetic waves on a surface of a transmission medium, identifying according to the event an updated mode for transmitting or receiving adjusted electromagnetic waves on the surface of a transmission medium, and transmitting or receiving the adjusted electromagnetic waves based on the updated mode. Other embodiments are disclosed.
System for managing at least one sub-assembly of an electric battery
The system (4) is provided for managing at least one sub-assembly (2) of an electric battery. Each sub-assembly comprises a plurality of power storage cells (12). The system includes, for each power storage cell, a circuit (14) for managing the state of the cell and a communication circuit (16), which is configured such that it receives and transmits data relative to the cell. The communication circuit is configured such that it transposes, over a carrier frequency, the data to be received and transmitted, the value of said carrier frequency being greater than or equal to 1 GHz. The management system further includes, for each sub-assembly, a loss cable (18) connecting the power storage cells of said sub-assembly. The loss cable acts as a waveguide and is coupled by capacitive coupling to the communication circuit of each power storage cell.
Method and apparatus for surveying remote sites via guided wave communications
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a surveying system operable to receive a plurality of electromagnetic waves via a guided wave transceiver that include environmental data collected via a plurality of sensors at a plurality of remote sites. Weather pattern data is generated based on the environmental data. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Wireless communication module
To provide a wireless communication module capable of preventing radiation characteristics from being changed by deformation of an antenna circuit board, a wireless communication module includes an antenna circuit board having a first principal surface on which at least one antenna element is mounted and a second principal surface on which an integrated circuit is mounted. The wireless communication module includes a support that holds the antenna circuit board by being in contact with a pair of opposite sides thereof and that thereby keeps the antenna circuit board flat. The support either (i) faces the second principal surface and is separated from the second principal surface by a distance that is not smaller than the wavelength of an electromagnetic wave transmitted and received with use of the antenna circuit board or (ii) does not face the second principal surface.

Apparatus and methods for launching guided waves via circuits
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a system having a plurality of transmitters for launching, according to a signal, instances of first electromagnetic waves having different phases to induce propagation of a second electromagnetic wave at an interface of a transmission medium, the second electromagnetic wave having a non-fundamental wave mode and a non-optical operating frequency, wherein the plurality of transmitters has a corresponding plurality of antennas. A reflective plate is spaced a distance behind the plurality of antennas relative to a direction of the propagation of the second electromagnetic wave. Other embodiments are disclosed.
