A stationary communication unit is adapted to be mounted to a headwall of a healthcare facility and enable wireless communication between a patient support apparatus and a nurse call system. The unit also performs one or more additional functions, such as, but not limited to: determining when a healthcare worker enters/exits the room; determining when the patient support apparatus exits/enters the room; storing/retrieving medical device data associated with a patient; directing medical device data to one or more displays in the room; auto-updating, auto-retrieving, and/or auto-displaying data upon healthcare worker entry into the room; auto-muting room sounds during nurse-patient communication; and auto-directing a healthcare workers electronic device to data associated with the patient in that room. In alternative embodiments, one or more of these additional functions are incorporated into a patient support apparatus.

Presence detection sensor for a motor vehicle
Disclosed is a detection sensor for detecting the presence of an item of user equipment through near-field communication for a motor vehicle, the sensor including an antenna, an impedance matcher, a driver module for driving the antenna and a microcontroller, which is configured to control the driver module, the impedance matcher being able to match the output impedance of the driver module to the impedance of the antenna while amplifying the power supplied by the driver module. The sensor includes a resistive module, mounted between the driver module and the impedance matcher, configured to stabilize the value of the input power of the impedance matcher.

For instance, a process can include receiving, by a first device via a proximity based communications system, an identifier associated with an audio playback device, determining that the first device has audio configuration information for the audio playback device, wherein the audio configuration information includes a set of sound effects for adjusting audio playback of the audio playback device, and transmitting, via the proximity based communications system, the audio configuration information for the audio playback device.

The transmission-side MCU 23A, 23B generates a communication connection request including, in a transmission packet, specific company identification information and communication data having device information corresponding to the control target apparatus and command data for controlling such a device, and the reception-side communication IC 27A, 27B supplies a specific control command to a device MCU 31A, 31B of the control target apparatus when identification information from a remote matches identification information already stored inside.
