Building, transmitting, and receiving frame structures in power line communications
Methods for building, transmitting, and receiving frame structures in power line communications (PLC) are described. Various techniques described herein provide a preamble design using one or more symbols. One or more preamble symbols may be interspersed within a header portion of a PLC frame to facilitate estimation of a frame boundary and/or sampling frequency offset, for example, in the presence of impulsive noise.
CAPACITY OPTIMIZATION METHOD FOR MOBILE OPTICAL WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND COMMUNICATION METHOD AND SYSTEM
The present invention discloses a capacity optimization method for a mobile optical wireless communication system and a communication method and system. The capacity optimization method includes the following steps: establishing a mobile channel impulse response model; calculating an electrical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of an output of a receiver; calculating bit error rate (BER) values of an optical wireless communication system in different candidate modulation formats according to the electrical SNR of the output of the receiver; selecting a first modulation format and a second modulation format from the different candidate modulation formats; determining quantities of chips in the first modulation format and the second modulation format in each data frame; and building a time domain hybrid modulation frame according to the quantities of chips in the first modulation format and the second modulation format, modulating data by using the time domain hybrid modulation frame, and performing data transmission.
Communication device, phase modulation spatial light modulating element, and operation control method
This communication device has a phase-modulation spatial light modulator; and a control unit which causes, during one frame time interval, the phase-modulation spatial light modulator to operate with first and second operation patterns. In a predetermined period within the one frame time interval, the first operation pattern includes a first light transmittable interval during which first signal light can be output, and a first pause interval during which the first signal light cannot be output whereas the second operation pattern includes a second light transmittable interval during which second signal light can be output, and a second pause interval during which the second signal light cannot be output. The first and second light transmittable intervals are each longer than a half of the predetermined period. The second pause interval is present within the first light transmittable interval, and the first pause interval is present within the second light transmittable interval.

Dark fiber dense wavelength division multiplexing service path design for microservices for 5G or other next generation network
A dark fiber dense wavelength division multiplexing service path design microservice (ddSPDmS) can provide a scalable self-contained meta-data driven approach for a flexible implementation of a dark fiber dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) service path design solution. The service plan design solution can be used as a standalone solution or integrated with a network management application. In order to manage a large volume of circuit designs, multiple microservices can accept application program interface (API) requests in a cloud environment. Permission can then be given to any application to use the API to make a call to the design and inventory. Additionally, metadata templates can be designed to support a node, a link, and/or a topology for the microservices.

Communicating information using photonic crystal masers
In a general aspect, a communication system comprises a first station and a second station. The first station includes a photonic crystal maser, a laser subsystem, and a tracking subsystem. A photonic crystal structure of the photonic crystal maser is formed of dielectric material and has an array of cavities and an elongated slot. The elongated slot is disposed in a defect region of the array of cavities. The photonic crystal maser also includes a vapor disposed in the elongated slot and operable to emit a target RF electromagnetic radiation in response to receiving an optical signal. The array of cavities and the elongated slot define a waveguide configured to form the target RF electromagnetic radiation, when emitted, into a beam. The second station includes a receiver configured to couple to the beam of target RF electromagnetic radiation.
