Electro-Optic Combiner and Associated Methods
An electro-optic combiner includes a polarization splitter and rotator (PSR) that directs a portion of incoming light having a first polarization through a first optical waveguide (OW). The PSR rotates a portion of the incoming light having a second polarization to the first polarization to provide polarization-rotated light. The PSR directs the polarization-rotated light through a second OW. Each of the first and second OW's has a respective combiner section. The first and second OW combiner sections extend parallel to each other and have opposite light propagation directions. A plurality of ring resonators is disposed between the combiner sections of the first and second OW's and within an evanescent optically coupling distance of both the first and second OW's. Each of ring resonators operates at a respective resonant wavelength to optically couple light from the combiner section of the first OW into the combiner section of the second OW.

Optical module
An optical module includes an interface electrically connected to an external device to receive a data signal to be transmitted, a signal processor configured to perform serialization and signal modulation on the received data signal, an optical transceiver configured to generate an optical transmission signal by receiving a direct current (DC) light source, in which a plurality of light sources having different wavelengths are multiplexed, from an optical power supply and performing optical modulation thereon through the serialized and modulated data signal, and an optical fiber connector configured to output the generated optical transmission signal to the external device and receive an optical reception signal from the external device.

Optimal equalization partitioning
An optical module configured to electrically connect to a host. A linear equalizer performs equalization on a host equalized signal to create a module equalized signal, and a driver configured to present the module equalized signal from the linear equalizer to an optical conversion device at a magnitude suitable for the optical conversion device. An optical conversion device receives the module equalized signal from the driver, converts the module equalized signal to an optical signal, and transmit the optical signal over an optical channel. Also part of the optical module is an interface which communicates supplemental equalizer settings to the host. A memory stores the supplemental equalizer settings which reflect the optical modules effect on a signal passing through the optical module. A controller oversees communication of the supplemental equalizer settings to the host such that the host uses the supplemental equalizer settings to modify host equalizer settings.
OPTICAL RECEIVER AND OPTICAL TRANSCEIVER MODULE
An optical receiver includes an optical amplifier that amplifies a received optical signal containing multiple wavelengths, a monitor circuit that monitors light intensities of the demultiplexed optical signal, a processor, and a memory having information representing a relationship between a total incident light intensity of the optical signal incident onto the optical amplifier and gains of the optical amplifier for the respective wavelengths. The processor repeats first calculation for determining the gains of the respective wavelengths from the memory, based on a drive current for driving the optical amplifier and an estimation value of the total incident light intensity of the optical signal, second calculation for calculating the incident light intensities of the respective wavelengths of the optical signal based on the gains and the monitored light intensities, and third calculation to calculate the total incident light intensity of the optical signal, until the total incident light intensity converges.
