TERMINAL DEVICES, COMMUNICATION METHODS, AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS
An objective is to provide a terminal device, a communication method, and a communication system in which the time taken by connection operations/authentication operations does not increase proportionally with the pattern length, even if the transmitting side and the receiving side are not synchronized. A terminal device, a communication method, and a communication system according to the present invention create n pieces of signal information (n-bit patterns) by sequentially shifting each bit of a single piece of received signal information (n-bit pattern) one bit at a time. Through the above, signal information time-shifted by one bit each is obtained. Thus, even if the transmitting side and the receiving side are not synchronized, one of the n pieces of signal information is a signal synchronized with the transmitting side. Thereafter, the signal synchronized with the transmitting side can be detected by a brute-force calculation with the patterns (ID information) in the list.

Amplified optical link having a fault-protection capability
An amplified optical link having a fault-protection capability that is based, at least in part, on the ability to selectively and independently power up and down different groups of optical amplifiers within the link. In an example embodiment, the optical link is implemented using an optical fiber cable having an electrical power line and arrays of optical amplifiers connected between successive optical fiber segments to form a plurality of disjoint groups of parallel optical paths between the ends of the optical fiber cable. The electrical power line is operable to selectively power, as a group, the optical amplifiers of at least some of the disjoint groups. In various embodiments, different optical paths can be implemented using different respective strands of a single-core optical fiber, different respective cores of a multi-core optical fiber, and/or different respective sets of spatial modes of a multimode optical fiber.
Mitigating instability in cascaded optical power controllers
Systems and methods for stabilizing power levels from excessive oscillations in an optical line system of a communications network are provided. A method, according to one implementation, includes the step of detecting a perturbation of an optical power level in an optical line system having a plurality of cascaded optical power controllers. The method also includes the step of determining an estimated location to which a power controller of the plurality of cascaded optical power controllers is positioned downstream of the perturbation with respect to other power controllers of the plurality of cascaded optical power controllers. Based on the estimated location to which the power controller is positioned downstream of the perturbation, the method also includes the step of providing feedback in a control loop to reduce the effects of the perturbation.
High-frequency module
A high-frequency module includes: a chassis which is made of a conductor and which has an internal space; a high-frequency circuit board which is housed in the internal space of the chassis; and a resistive element provided between an inner wall that opposes the high-frequency circuit board among inner walls of the chassis which define the internal space and the high-frequency circuit board.

WIRELESS CHARGING OF DEVICES
Disclosed is a method of operating an array of receiver devices as a phased array. The receiver devices are in a fixed mutual relationship within a zone and each receiver device comprises a photovoltaic element. The method involves receiving a signal from within the zone at a plurality of the receiver devices to generate a plurality of received signals and processing the received signals using at least one phase difference therebetween. The method also involves directing a beam of light from a unit located within the zone to the photovoltaic elements, thereby providing power to said receiver devices. The invention extends to an array of transmitter devices and to an array of both transmitter and receiver devices.
COMMUNICATION DEVICE
A mobile terminal is a communication device that communicates using visible light, and includes: a plurality of light emitters, each of which is disposed along the front surface of the mobile terminal and transmits a visible light signal; and a plurality of light receivers, each of which is disposed along the front surface and receives a visible light signal. The plurality of light emitters are disposed on the left side of all of the plurality of light receivers, and the plurality of first light receivers are disposed on the right side of all of the plurality of light emitters.
OPTICAL TRANSMISSION POWER SUPPLY CABLE
An optical transmission power supply cable includes an electric power input terminal, a power sourcing equipment and an optical fiber cable. The power sourcing equipment includes a semiconductor laser that oscillates with electric power input from the electric power input terminal, thereby outputting feed light. The optical fiber cable transmits the feed light from the power sourcing equipment. The optical fiber cable has an electrically insulating property of not conducting electricity in a longer direction thereof.
Submarine Cable Interface For Connection to Terrestrial Terminals
In an optical network having a terrestrial terminal and an open cable interface (OCI) connecting a submarine cable to a terrestrial cable, the OCI may include a filter positioned on an optical path between the terrestrial cable and the submarine cable and configured to pass first communication signals of a first frequency band, and filter out secondary signals of a second frequency band that does not overlap with the first frequency band. The secondary signals may be looped back to the terrestrial terminal. The terrestrial terminal may detect the looped back secondary signals, and in response, determine the presence of the OCI and that the supervisory signals were rerouted by the OCI.
