Dynamically adjusting DOCSIS port utilization
10715346 · 2020-07-14 · ·

Dynamically adjusting upstream and/or downstream spectrum usage by a Remote PHY node. Cable modem association information for a Remote PHY node is dynamically determined remotely from across a network. The association information identifies which cable modems serviced by the Remote PHY node are physically connected to each of the Remote PHY node ports. Remote PHY node ports are remotely and dynamically assigned to upstream device port and/or downstream device port of a Remote PHY device comprised within the Remote PHY node. Based on the association information, each of the node port of the Remote PHY node may be reassigned to a different upstream device ports and/or downstream device ports of the Remote PHY device. This reassignment may be performed to achieve load balancing of upstream and/or downstream traffic sent between a plurality of cable modems served by the Remote PHY node and a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS).

LOW POWER SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DSL LINES
20200153974 · 2020-05-14 · ·

The transmit power level of a transceiver coupled to a digital subscriber line (DSL) line is reduced from a first transmit power level sufficient for the transceiver to transmit data on the DSL line at a first bit rate to a second transmit power level below the first transmit power level sufficient for the transceiver to transmit data on the DSL line at a second bit rate that is lower than the first bit rate. The reduction in transmit power is limited so that the change does not induce time-varying crosstalk sufficient to destabilize a nearby DSL line. While the transmit power level of the transceiver is reduced to the second transmit power level, the transceiver is suspended from transmitting data on the DSL line for repeated periods of time. Suspending the data transmission is controlled to avoid further time-varying crosstalk sufficient to destabilize the nearby DSL line.

Transceiver for communication and method for controlling communication

In an example embodiment, a communication system provides a clock extension peripheral interface (CXPI) communication bus that is coupled to a master node and a plurality of slave nodes. The master node is configured to transmit a reference clock signal on the CXPI communication bus. Each slave node of the plurality of slave nodes is configured to receive the reference clock signal from the CXPI communication bus and to transmit and receive data to and from the CXPI communication bus based on the reference clock signal.

Cell clustering and power allocation for energy-efficient VLC networks

Joint power allocation and cell formation for energy efficient (EE) visible light communication (VLC) networks is described. A set of rules for clustering users and then associating all the access points (APs) to the clustered users based on a proposed metric is developed. The energy efficiency is maximized by allocating power to users based on quality of service (QoS) constraints. The present disclosure jointly allocates the power and decides which APs must participate in communication and which ones must be switched off to minimize inter-cell interference. Numerical results demonstrate a significant improvement in energy efficiency compared to the traditional methods of clustering and AP assignment.
