Monitoring system for a distributed antenna system
A monitoring system 22 for a distributed antenna system (DAS) 10 is provided. The DAS comprises central transmitter 12 which is connected by a signal transmission network 14 to a plurality of distributed antenna devices (DAD) 16.1 to 16.n. The network comprises physical branches. Each of the DAD's is connected to a respective sub-branch 14.11 and comprises at least one antenna 18. The antenna is associated with a frequency band having a center frequency f.sub.c and an associated wavelength Ac. The monitoring system comprises a central monitoring unit (CMU) 24 which is coupled to the network 14. A monitoring device 28.1 is associated with at least one of the DAD's and permanently mounted a distance d<2λ.sub.c away from the antenna of the DAD. The monitoring device comprises a controller 30, a transceiver 32 and an antenna 34. The controller being configured, upon being polled by the CMU 24 with a monitoring signal via the network and the distributed antenna device, to cause the transceiver 32 to respond by transmitting a response signal to the CMU 24 via the distributed antenna device 16.1 and the network 14.
Resource utilization based event triggering in wireless communications
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support resource utilization based event triggering. A wireless node in a wireless communications system may establish a connection with a core network via a path that includes one or more relay nodes. The wireless node may determine that a network load associated with one or more paths between the wireless node and the core network has changed, or that a difference between two or more network loads of different paths has changed. Based on such a determination, the wireless node may transmit a report to the network. In some cases, the network may receive the report from the wireless node, and may initiate a path change based on the report.

Booster Gain Adjustment Based On User Equipment (UE) Need
A technology is described for adjusting repeater gain based on user equipment need. A downlink path of the repeater can be deactivated. A deactivated throughput value can be received from the UE for data received at the UE in a selected time period. The downlink amplification path of the repeater can be activated. An activated throughput value for data received at the UE in the selected time period can be received from the UE. A difference can be determined between the deactivated throughput value and the activated throughput value. A repeater gain value can be reduced or bypassed when the deactivated throughput value is greater than the activated throughput value by a selected threshold value.
