Using Broadcast Physical Layer for One-Way Time Transfer of Universal Coordinated Time to Receivers
20200022100 · 2020-01-16 · ·

Systems and methods for one-way time transfer using physical layer signaling are disclosed herein. According to some examples, a method includes generating timing information based on a clock of a transmitting device, where the timing information comprises a timestamp and metadata. The method further includes generating a preamble of a frame, where the preamble includes the timestamp and the metadata of the timing information. The method also includes forming a frame, where the frame comprises a bootstrap, the preamble, and a payload, and transmitting the frame to a receiver device. The one-way time transfer systems and methods of this disclosure can serve mobile devices that entail quick and reliable establishment of a clock.

System and method of bi-directional communication for position sensors involving superposition of data over low voltage DC power using two conductors

A communication system that involves superimposing data over DC power. The data takes the form of high bitrate digital signals, where the bitrate is much higher than 0 Hz (DC); this separation allows the AC signal to be easily separated from the DC power. The physical system consists of a two conductor cable, and integration is modular, in that multiple slaves can be connected and disconnected to a master through a routing bus also comprising two conductors. The master can communicate bi-directionally with the slave(s), and the data is encoded using DC-balanced encoding in an FPGA. The data is sent to and from a differential signaling transmitter/receiver pairs at each end of the cable. The system is may be used with position sensors, and provides the benefit of reducing cable costs and sensor size due to the decrease in number of conductors and elimination of power components in the sensor.

Convergence sublayer for use in a wireless broadcasting system

A method of encapsulating data and a single frequency network configured to perform the method are disclosed. A content stream of data packets is received, and the data packets in the content stream are formatted in accordance with a first protocol. Information identifying a container size established for the content stream is received. The data packets formatted in accordance with the first protocol are fragmented and packed to form data units formatted in accordance with a second protocol, and the data units are sized based on the container size. The data units formatted in accordance with the second protocol are encapsulated to form second protocol data packets. The second protocol data packets are provided to a transmitter that is synchronized to one or more transmitters in a single frequency network so that each transmitter in the single frequency network broadcasts a same signal that includes the second protocol data packets.

ANTENNA METER APP
20240129429 · 2024-04-18 ·

Disclosed is an over-the-air (OTA) antenna meter application (meter app) that wirelessly connects to an OTA antenna meter (meter) installed with an OTA antenna and presents information that facilitates a user in installing the OTA antenna at the premises of a customer. For example, the meter app can help the user in pointing and peaking the OTA antenna for one or more broadcast channels, e.g., those selected by the customer. The meter app can store installation information of the OTA antenna for various installations, which can be used in generating a recommendation of, or predicting, installation information for installing the OTA antenna at a specified address. The predicted installation information can include broadcast channels that would be available for reception at the specified address and their signal strength, a specific location of installation on the premises, or whether a pre-amplifier and/or filter is required.
