Digital video broadcasting—terrestrial (DVB-T) system and modulation method thereof
09781489 · 2017-10-03 · ·

The present invention provides a digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) system and modulation method thereof. The system comprises a transmission module and a receiving module. The transmission module modulates a video signal to a DVB-T signal. The receiving module receives the DVB-T signal via a transmission line and demodulates the DVB-T signal to the video signal, and at the same time, monitoring the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or bit error rate (BER), and quantizes them to a reference data. The receiving module transmits the reference data to the transmission module through the same transmission line. The system can determine a control parameter according to the reference data to set the modulation parameter of the DVB-T signal.

Systems and methods for automated testing of MoCA networks

The present invention relates to testing signals on a coaxial home network that carries a digital video signal. It has direct application to testing Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) standards-compliant networks and applies to similar networks such as Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS), Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. An embedded expert system can guide an inexperienced operator through the process of evaluating and resolving problems with a home network with little operator input.

Methods for determining localized outages and distributed signal verification of set-top boxes

Embodiments disclose systems and methods for testing and determining outages of communication systems. A server can receive signal-reception-related information from set-top boxes (STBs) in a particular geographical region, where a STB: receives signals having a predefined pattern, generates a comparison of the predefined pattern to reference patterns stored on the STB, generates the signal-reception-related information based on the comparison, and sends the signal-reception-related information. The server can determine an outage status for the particular geographical region based on the signal-reception-related information. The server can generate an output based on the outage status. The output is configured to provide information related to the outage status of the particular geographical region and information for possible responses related to the outage status. The server can send the output.

Media-broadcasting system with broadcast schedule simulation feature

In one aspect, an example method includes (i) accessing, by a computing system, a broadcast schedule, which indicates that a broadcast of a first media content item is scheduled to be followed by a broadcast of a second media content item, wherein the computing system can operate in a schedule mode or a breakout mode; (ii) switching from operating in the schedule mode to operating in the breakout mode; and (iii) while operating in the breakout mode: (a) simulating a broadcast of the first media content item; (b) making a determination that a particular signal is embedded in the first media content item; (c) responsive to making the determination, simulating a switch from broadcasting the first media content item to broadcasting the second media content item; (d) based on the simulated broadcast of the first and second media content items, generating a simulation log; and (e) presenting the generated log.

Embodiments include a system and method for a real-time distributed Transport Stream (TS) analysis that utilizes many parts of an available network to concurrently monitor TSs across a geographic region. Embodiments include the selection of a profile for each combination of a TS and a collection point where the profile includes one or more sets of acceptable transmission values or ranges associated with the combination. The profile may include for example, program service information tables, service information, TS transmission parameters, and/or general TS quality index analysis rules. Embodiments include real-time concurrent monitoring and analysis of multiple TSs from collection points distributed throughout the geographic region. As services associated with the TSs at different collection points evolve, the respective profiles and rules adapt accordingly to maintain the quality of service and performance associated with respective TS and collection point combinations.

DIAGNOSING FAULTS IN A MULTIMEDIA OVER COAX ALLIANCE (MoCA) LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN) INCLUDING A WiFi SEGMENT

A testing method is provided for diagnosing faults in a multimedia over coax alliance (MoCA) local area network (LAN) including a WiFi segment. The method including, responsive to selection of a test sequence that includes testing of the WiFi segment, causing display of instructional images that depict how an operator couples the test hardware to a wireless component, invoking the test hardware to perform a test by automatically selecting, in dependence upon a problem generically identified by a user, a test and invoking the test, and automatically evaluating results returned by the test, without user interpretation of the results returned, to determine at least one of (i) whether to report a recommendation to replace/repair an identified component, and (ii) whether to (a) repeat the causing display of instructional images, (b) invoke the test hardware to perform an additional test and (c) automatically evaluate results returned by the additional test.
