Technique for transmitting and receiving system time information in broadcasting system

The present disclosure provides a data transmission method of a system in an IP based broadcasting network, the data transmission method comprising the steps of: generating an MPEG media transport protocol (MMTP) packet using a media processing unit (MPU) for a service; generating an IP packet using the MMTP packet; generating a layer 2 (L2) packet using the IP packet and generating a layer 1 (L1) packet stream using the L2 packet; and transmitting the L1 packet stream, wherein absolute time information of the system is included in one of a transmission frame of the L1 packet stream and the L2 packet.

Broadcast relaying via cooperative multi-channel transmission

Systems and methods for relaying in broadcast single-frequency networks are disclosed herein. A single-frequency network can be formed in part using transmitters that receive data via a cooperative relay channel instead of a station-to-transmitter link. In some embodiments, a second channel may use a portion of its transmission time to relay the information to the single-frequency network transmitter using time-division multiplexing. In other embodiments, a second channel may encode the relayed information on a second layer using layer-division multiplexing.

Synchronization of play of targeted media content with time slots in radio broadcast signal

A radio receiver of an audio system receives a radio signal that includes a main signal and a radio data system (RDS) signal. The RDS signal includes custom information associated with media content tags and synchronized with time slots in the main signal. A media streaming service identifies targeted media content based on a profile of a mobile device connected to the audio system and sends the targeted media content to the mobile device over an Internet connection. During a playing of the audio broadcast, the audio system receives a custom information in the RDS signal and sends to the mobile device a request including the media content tag associated with the custom information. In response, the audio system receives from the mobile device a targeted media content matching the media content tag. The audio system plays the targeted media content synchronized with the time slot in the main signal.

Synchronization control apparatus and synchronization control method

According to one embodiment, there is provided a synchronization control apparatus which synchronizes an STC counter value, based on TAI (Temps Atomique International: international atomic time) time, in each of systems which constitute a transmission system in a broadcasting system or a distribution system, the apparatus includes a processor or a dedicated arithmetic circuit configured to determine a time length in which the STC counter value laps, to calculate a remainder of the time length relative to the TAI time, and to convert the remainder to the STC counter value, thereby determining the STC counter value.

Reception method, transmission method, reception device, and transmission device

According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a reception method in broadcast and broadband cooperation service, the reception method includes: receiving broadcast content transmitted through broadcast; receiving acquisition information through the broadcast, the acquisition information being information used to play back broadband content transmitted through broadband while the broadband content is synchronized with the received broadcast content, the acquisition information being information relating to acquisition of the broadband content; and acquiring the broadband content based on the received acquisition information. Therefore, the broadband content can properly be acquired in response to the reception of the broadcast content.
