The second re-multiplexing unit inserts a delay control packet at a timing corresponding to a timing of a first packet of an OFDM frame, the delay control packet being a packet containing control information for compensating for a difference between delay times of the first and second lines. When doing so, the second re-multiplexing unit generates, as the control information, an index value of a waiting time from a time when the delay control packet is received in a transmitting apparatus to a start of a modulation process for a packet following the delay control packet.

Before a commercial segment begins, a list of commercials to be provided during the commercial segment is received comprising the commercial identifier. After determining that the commercial associated with the interactive advertisement is to be provided during the commercial segment and responsive to determining that the commercial segment is eligible for hosting the interactive advertisement, providing at least a portion of the interactive advertisement data, the portion of the interactive advertisement data configured to provide access to the related content object. The commercial and access to the related content object are provided for simultaneous display.

An example method for providing an interactive advertisement in association with a media presentation comprises storing a commercial identifier in association with an interactive advertisement identifying a commercial associated with the interactive advertisement. The interactive advertisement is associated with interactive advertisement data comprising a related content identifier identifying a related content object. Before a commercial segment begins, a list of commercials to be provided during the commercial segment is received comprising the commercial identifier. After determining that the commercial associated with the interactive advertisement is to be provided during the commercial segment and responsive to determining that the commercial segment is eligible for hosting the interactive advertisement, providing at least a portion of the interactive advertisement data, the portion of the interactive advertisement data configured to provide access to the related content object. The commercial and access to the related content object are provided for simultaneous display.

An association with a system timing at the time of transmission is secured without changing a display timing in text information of a subtitle, and a reception side displays the subtitle at an appropriate timing. A packet in which a document of the text information of the subtitle having display timing information is included in a payload is generated and transmitted in synchronization with a sample period. A header of the packet includes a time stamp on a first time axis indicating a start time of the corresponding sample period. The payload of the packet further includes reference time information of a second time axis regarding the display timing associated with the start time of the corresponding sample period.

An association with a system timing at the time of transmission is secured without changing a display timing in text information of a subtitle, and a reception side displays the subtitle at an appropriate timing. A packet in which a document of the text information of the subtitle having display timing information is included in a payload is generated and transmitted in synchronization with a sample period. A header of the packet includes a time stamp on a first time axis indicating a start time of the corresponding sample period. The payload of the packet further includes reference time information of a second time axis regarding the display timing associated with the start time of the corresponding sample period.

The present technology relates to a transmission device, a transmission method, a reception device, and a reception method that make it possible to more reliably transmit a transmission control signal.

Provided is a transmission device including a transmission unit that includes a first transmission control signal compatible with a first system in a first broadcast signal including a signal of a first content compatible with the first system and a signal of a second content compatible with a second system and transmits the first broadcast signal via a first transmission antenna, and includes a second transmission control signal compatible with the second system in a second broadcast signal including the signal of the second content and transmits the second broadcast signal via a second transmission antenna. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a transmission system compatible with a broadcast system such as an ISDB-T system.

A digital broadcast receiving apparatus capable of executing a function with a higher added value is provided. A broadcast receiving apparatus configured to receive broadcasting data on digital broadcasting is used. The control unit is configured to: control the video decoding unit or the display unit so as not to limit viewing of the broadcasting program that the user of the broadcast receiving apparatus desires to view in a case where the response data received by the communication unit indicates a display permission response and both of terminal identification information and authentication information contained in the display permission response respectively coincide with the terminal identification information and the authentication information stored in the authentication information storing unit; and control the video decoding unit or the display unit so as to limit the viewing of the broadcasting program that the user of the broadcast receiving apparatus desires to view in a case where any of the terminal identification information and the authentication information contained in the display permission response does not coincide with corresponding one of the terminal identification information and the authentication information stored in the authentication information storing unit even though the response data received by the communication unit indicates the display permission response.

A digital broadcast receiving apparatus capable of executing a function with a higher added value is provided. A broadcast receiving apparatus configured to receive broadcasting data on digital broadcasting is used. The broadcast receiving apparatus includes: a broadcast receiving unit configured to receive broadcasting data containing coded video data regarding a broadcasting program of the digital broadcasting and control information for the broadcasting program; a video decoding unit configured to decode the coded video data received by the broadcast receiving unit to reproduce program video information; a display unit configured to display the program video information reproduced by the video decoding unit; a communication unit configured to transmit viewing permission request data to a predetermined portable information terminal in a case where a broadcasting program that a user of the broadcast receiving apparatus desires to view is a program on which viewing limit is to be imposed, the communication unit being configured to receive response data from the portable information terminal, the response data responding to the viewing permission request data; an authentication information storing unit configured to store terminal identification information and authentication information, the predetermined portable information terminal being allowed to be identified by the terminal identification information; and a control unit. The control unit is configured to: control the video decoding unit or the display unit so as not to limit viewing of the broadcasting program that the user of the broadcast receiving apparatus desires to view in a case where the response data received by the communication unit indicates a display permission response and both of terminal identification information and authentication information contained in the display permission response respectively coincide with the terminal identification information and the authentication information stored in the authentication information storing unit; and control the video decoding unit or the display unit so as to limit the viewing of the broadcasting program that the user of the broadcast receiving apparatus desires to view in a case where any of the terminal identification information and the authentication information contained in the display permission response does not coincide with corresponding one of the terminal identification information and the authentication information stored in the authentication information storing unit even though the response data received by the communication unit indicates the display permission response.
