HAPTIC BROADCAST WITH SELECT HAPTIC METADATA BASED ON HAPTIC PLAYBACK CAPABILITY
20180227063 · 2018-08-09 ·

Broadcasting select haptic metadata includes broadcasting a broadcast signal to haptic-enabled devices. In response, haptic playback capability information is received at a host source from a haptic-enabled device when original haptic metadata in the broadcast signal encodes haptic information incompatible with the haptic playback capability information. The select haptic metadata, which is customized for the haptic playback capability information, is generated and sent from the host source to the haptic-enabled device.

Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to provide secondary content in association with primary broadcast media content

Example methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to provide media content are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes receiving an audio signal output by a first media presentation device, the audio signal being associated with first media content, decoding the audio signal to extract a code from the audio signal, the code identifying at least one of the first media content or a broadcaster of the first media content, setting a clock using a timestamp associated with the code, obtaining second media content based on the code and the timestamp, the second media content comprising a plurality of pieces of secondary content for respective ones of a plurality of timestamps, and presenting, at a second media presentation device, a first of the plurality of pieces of secondary media when its respective timestamp substantially corresponds to a time value obtained from the clock.

A system for vibrationally sensing audio includes a vibration output device. The vibration output device includes a haptic actuator; a haptic actuator driver coupled to the haptic actuator; an antenna configured to communicatively receive a haptic pattern from a base unit; and a processor coupled to the antenna and haptic actuator driver. In some embodiments, a haptic pattern includes at least one frequency range. When a total audio power in at least one frequency range reaches a threshold, the processor activates the haptic actuator driver to drive the haptic actuator to produce vibration on a body surface of a user, an inanimate object surface, or a water surface. In some embodiments, the system further includes the base unit. The base unit includes a base unit processor configured to receive an audio signal from an audio emitting device and process the audio signal into the haptic pattern.

A digital tuner in a broadcasting receiving unit outputs audio data at a sample rate of Fs+dr (Hz), and an ASRC rate-converts audio data to audio data at a sample rate of Fs+ds (Hz) and transmits the resulting audio data to an audio processing unit. A DAC in the audio processing unit analog-converts the received audio data at an output rate of Fs+da (Hz) and outputs the resulting audio data to a speaker. The sample rate Fs+ds and the output rate Fs+da are synchronized with a SYNC transmitted from the broadcasting receiving unit to the audio processing unit on a 125 ms cycle. For the sample rate Fs+ds and the output rate Fs+da, a relationship of (da?ds)?0.125<1 is assured.
