A reliable transmission of an EAS message to a user or subscriber of a distribution source, for example, an Internet service and/or cable provider, is provided by utilizing a smart media device (SMD) ecosystem. An SMD is coupled to a distribution source, such as an Internet service provider, cable provider and/or any other service provider. The SMD can transmit the EAS message to a user of the SMD using only the SMD as opposed to relying on externally connected devices as is typically required with traditional systems. The SMD alerts a user as to an event or condition associated with an EAS message and also receives input from a user of the SMD, for example, a confirmation of the EAS message or a request for assistance. The two-way communication provided by the SMD ecosystem enhances the user experience and increases the ability to verifiably alert users to an emergency.

A server system accesses a profile of a user of the media-providing service. The profile indicates a demographic group of the user. For each track of a plurality of tracks, the server system determines a year associated with the track. The server system selects content for the user based at least in part on an affinity of members of the demographic group, as compared to members of other demographic groups, of music from the year associated with the track. The server system provides the selected content to a client device associated with the user.

The live video content and a response to the live video content are simultaneously displayed at each of the participant client devices with the look created by the user of the moderator client. The interactive program and the response are archived so that users of the plurality of participant devices may continue to interact with the interactive program after termination of the interactive program.

Apparatus, systems, articles of manufacture, and methods are disclosed for correcting systematic tuning defects. An example apparatus includes a defect analyzer to identify a suspect time window in tuning volume data of return path data reported by set top boxes. The example apparatus further includes a return path data transformer to identify a first return path data entry indicating a first set top box reported a first transition to an off state at a first time during the suspect time window and to modify the first return path data entry to (1) eliminate the first transition to the off state at the first time and (2) assign the first return path data entry a first duration to remain in an on state after the first time, where the first duration is determined based on monitoring data reported from media device meters monitoring media presentation devices.

Disclosed are apparatus and method for facilitating a purchase in conjunction with media content information. The apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a transmission of media content, information regarding the content, and information for facilitating a purchase of at least one of a copy of the content, a good, and/or a service. The content may include broadcast media content and entertainment media content. The apparatus also includes a processor configured to process the information regarding the content and the information for facilitating a purchase of the copy of the content, the good, and/or the service. The apparatus also includes a display device for displaying information.

A response to the interactive program may be received from a viewer client device based on an interaction of the user of the viewer client device with the interactive component. The response received from the viewer client device may be displayed simultaneously with the updated interactive program on the display of each of a plurality of viewer client devices.
