A server system accesses a listening history of a user of the media-providing service, where the user is in a demographic group. For each track of a plurality of tracks in the listening history of the user, the server system calculates a first metric based at least in part on an affinity of members of the demographic group, as compared to members of other demographic groups, for the track. The server system selects content for the user based on the first metric and provides the selected content to a client device associated with the user.

BROADCAST RESPONSE SYSTEM
A broadcast response system provides, e.g., a radio broadcast listener with the ability to obtain media content such as music or speech while listening to the radio. The user can respond to items in the radio broadcast such as advertisements, fund raising drives, or interactive listener polls during the broadcast. Data such as song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored, can be transmitted using, e.g., the RBDS/RDS data stream. A reference number representing song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored can also be employed for ease of implementation. This reference number can reside in a lookup table to be accessed by broadcast response server.
Operating a wireless receiver
The present disclosure relates to a method for operating a wireless receiver to receive station signals from transmitting stations via communication channels and to emit a selected one of the station signals. The method selects communication channels to transmit the selected one of the station signals, detects reception properties for the selected communication channels, detects position data of the wireless receiver, assigns the position data of the wireless receiver to the reception properties detected with regard to the selected communication channels, determines a position-related received data set for the selected one of the station signals, and transmits the position-related received data set to a server device that stores the position-related received data set to be retrievable by the server device.

A server may generate interactive commerce programming with content including descriptive information about a product or a service. The interactive commerce programming may be provided to a producer client to present the content at a display of the producer client and to participant devices. The server may receive from a participant device a participant response. The apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a transmission of media content, information regarding the content, and information for facilitating a purchase of at least one of a copy of the content, a good, and/or a service. The content may include broadcast media content and entertainment media content. The apparatus also includes a processor configured to process the information regarding the content and the information for facilitating a purchase of the copy of the content, the good, and/or the service. The apparatus also includes a display device for displaying information.
