Broadcast receiver with two units for switching over between different transmission technologies
The invention relates to a method for receiving radio broadcast signals by means of a radio broadcast receiver and to a radio broadcast receiver designed for performing the method, wherein the broadcast receiver has at least two receiving units for different transmission techniques. The user selects a radio broadcast service of a first receiving unit of the at least two receiving units, and the selected radio broadcast service is then played back by the radio broadcast receiver. The other, second receiving unit for the different transmission technique of the radio broadcast receiver searches for an alternative radio broadcast service having preferably the same or comparable content during the playback of the radio broadcast service selected by the user, and the radio broadcast receiver automatically switches over to the second receiving unit having the alternative radio broadcast service if the first receiving unit cannot play back the selected radio broadcast service.

ERROR CONCEALMENT
An apparatus and method are provided. The apparatus comprises a plurality of inputs, a plurality of receive buffers, a processor and an output. The plurality of inputs are configured to receive a plurality of data streams. Each data stream comprising a respective plurality of data blocks carrying common content. The plurality of receive buffers are each configured to store the data blocks of a respective on of the plurality of data streams including storing quality information associated with each data block. The processor is configured to select stored data blocks from the respective buffers to form an output data stream carrying the common content. The processor is further configured to carry out signal processing on the selected data blocks in dependence on the associated quality information. The output is configured to output the selected and error concealed data blocks. The quality information associated with each data block corresponds to a quality experienced by a receive path at the time of reception of each data block.
METHOD FOR RECEIVING A BROADCAST SIGNAL AND BROADCAST RECEIVER DEVICE
The present disclosure relates to a method and system for receiving a broadcast signal. The system includes a broadcast receiver device having two receiving units, two decoding units, a combining unit and a further processing unit. A broadcast signal is received by both receiving units, so that two reception signals are provided. From each reception signal, a raw data stream is extracted and decoded by the decoding units. It is checked if the data stream provided by each decoding unit is complete. If a first data stream is complete, it is processed by the further processing unit. If the first data stream is incomplete and the second data stream is complete, the second data stream is further processed. If both data streams are incomplete, they will be combined to a combined data stream by the combining unit, the combined data stream being further processed, if it is complete.
Radio receiving device
The invention relates to a method for operating a radio receiving device, which receives and outputs a radio signal which transmits a radio station signal of a selected radio station. The method comprises acquiring radio channels which transmit the radio station signal of the selected radio station by means of a separate radio channel-specific radio signal in each case, ascertaining radio channel-specific parameters of the acquired radio channels, generating radio channel-specific radio station signals by processing the radio signals of the radio channels in consideration of the respective radio channel-specific parameters, standardizing the generated radio channel-specific radio station signals, superimposing the standardized radio channel-specific radio station signals to form a reception radio station signal, and outputting the reception radio station signal.
Method and apparatus for mode balance for analog FM, digital, radio blend logic in an automotive environment
A radio includes a first tuner and a second tuner. A processor compares a first perceivable volume level of a station tuned by the first tuner to at least one second perceivable volume level of at least one background station tuned by the second tuner. The processor enables automatic volume knob changes using a pre-calibrated lookup table that associates a volume step of the volume knob with a difference between the first perceivable volume level and the second perceivable volume level.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CONTENT NAVIGATION AMONG PROGRAMS PRESENTING ADVERTISING CONTENT
Systems and methods for aiding user content navigation are described. An exemplary system may include an electronic device configured to receive audiovisual content and/or user inputs. The electronic device may additionally include one or more outputs coupled with a display device. The electronic device may further include one or more processors as well as memory, which when executed by the one or more processors, cause them to perform one or more navigation functions to receive a channel change command to adjust from a first channel to a second channel. The one or more processors may further be caused to determine that the second channel is presenting advertising content instead of program content, and determine that a third channel is presenting program content. The one or more processors may further be caused to adjust the output to the third channel.
COMPATIBLE CHANNEL BONDING SERVICE MANAGEMENT
A method is described for defining service metadata for multiple RF channel services with no impact to the currently defined service metadata for single tuner receiving devices. One example may include receiving first service layer metadata from a first communication channel and second service layer metadata from a second communication channel; and determining a plurality of services available from the first and second communication channels based on the first and second service layer metadata, wherein at least one of the plurality of services is a multiple channel service that comprises data in a pooled set of the first and second communication channels, wherein the multiple channel service is identified by matching a first service from the first service layer metadata and a second service from the second service layer metadata to identify the at least one of the plurality of service in the pooled set.
Broadcast receiving system and method for processing broadcast signals
A broadcast receiving system capable of receiving mobile broadcast data and a method for processing broadcast signals are disclosed. The broadcast receiving system includes N number of antenna elements, a demodulator, a transmission parameter detector, and a block decoder. The N number of antenna elements receives each of the broadcast signals. The demodulator demodulates the broadcast signal having greater signal strength among each of the received broadcast signals. The transmission parameter detector detects the transmission parameter. The block decoder symbol-decodes the mobile broadcast service data included in the received broadcast signal in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter.
Method and apparatus for sensing inter-modulation to improve radio performance in single and dual tuner
A method of performing alternate frequency switching in a radio includes tuning the radio to a primary frequency. A candidate alternate frequency is identified. It is determined whether the candidate alternate frequency is a third order inter-modulation artifact. Tuning is switched from the primary frequency to the candidate alternate frequency only if it is determined in the determining step that the candidate alternate frequency is not a third order inter-modulation artifact.
