A method and system for caching concept structures in a cache memory of a user computing device are provided. The method includes collecting at least one environmental variable related to a user of the computing device; retrieving at least one concept structure matching the at least one received environmental variable, each concept structure comprises a concept metadata associated with a plurality of multimedia content elements; and caching the at least one matching concept structure in the cache memory.

System and method for selecting input feeds to a media player
10659182 · 2020-05-19 · ·

System and methods are provided for playing media feeds via a standard media player in enhanced manner. The media feeds may be obtained via the Internet. A particular signature signal, from a plurality of signature signals, may be determined based on a feedback signal corresponding to an audio output signal of the media player, and based on the determined signature signal, a media feed of a plurality of media feeds may be selected. An input signal configured for the media player may then be transmitted, with the input signal including a plurality of channels, and the selected media feed being conveyed over one of the plurality of channels associated with the determined signature signal. The signature signals may include audio frequency signals and/or acoustic signals inaudible to human hearing. The feedback signal may be an electrical, a wireless or an optical signal.

Media Channel Identification and Action with Multi-Match Detection and Disambiguation Based on Matching with Differential Reference-Fingerprint Feature
20200154164 · 2020-05-14 ·

A computing system compares various reference fingerprints each representing a reference media stream broadcast on a different respective known channel, and the computing system determines that a plurality of the reference fingerprints match each other, thus defining a multi-match group of the matching reference fingerprints. In response, the computing system identifies a fingerprint feature that could define a distinction between the reference fingerprints, and the computing system resolves the multi-match based on the identified feature, thereby determining the channel carrying the media stream being rendered by the media presentation device. And the server then takes channel-specific action based on the determined channel.

Method and System for Detecting and Responding to Changing of Media Channel
20200149290 · 2020-05-14 ·

A computing system receives from a media presentation device a query fingerprint stream representing media content being presented by the media presentation device, where the query fingerprint stream has been determined to represent a first channel. The computing system then detects that a threshold mismatch exists between the received query fingerprint stream and a reference fingerprint stream representing the first channel, thus indicating a likelihood that the media presentation device has transitioned from presenting the first channel to presenting a second channel. Responsive to detecting the threshold mismatch, the system thus discontinues channel-specific action with respect to the first channel. For instance, the system could discontinue superimposing of first-channel-specific content on the presented media content and perhaps start superimposing of second-channel-specific content instead.

MEDIA IDENTIFICATION USING WATERMARKS AND SIGNATURES

Apparatus, systems, articles of manufacture, and methods to identify media using watermarks and signatures are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a watermark evaluator to determine a category indicated by a watermark detected in the media. The example apparatus also includes a signature comparator to compare a query signature with a subset of reference signatures associated with the category to identify the media, the query signature generated from the media, the reference signatures generated from reference media associated with the category.

METHODS AND APPARATUS TO GENERATE REFERENCE SIGNATURES

Example apparatus disclosed herein include a signature collector to collect a first signature for media being presented to a plurality of households, a media creditor to credit the media when the first signature matches a reference signature in a reference signature database. The example apparatus also includes a signature thresholder to, when the first signature does not match the reference signature in the reference signature database, determine if the first signature matches an unknown signature in an unknown signature database; increase a count associated with the unknown signature when the first signature matches the unknown signature; and determine when a second signature matches the first signature, the second signature including metadata identifying the media. The example apparatus also includes a signature handler to store a reference signature for the first signature by associating the metadata identifying the media with the first signature when the count of the first signature satisfies a threshold, the reference signature to be stored in the reference signature database.
