Methods and apparatus for identifying media content using temporal signal characteristics are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, computer readable instructions, and at least one processor to execute the instructions to identify intervals in a media signal; generate interval sums for respective ones of the intervals, a first interval sum of the interval sums based on a sum of magnitudes of first peaks of the media signal that occur between zero crossings of a first interval of the intervals of the media signal; identify second peaks based on the interval sums; and generate a signature representative of the media signal based on the second peaks.
Methods and apparatus for optimizing station reference fingerprint loading using reference watermarks
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed selectively generating and storing hashed reference signatures. An example method disclosed herein determining whether watermark coverage of a first media segment satisfies a dropout constraint, the first media segment corresponding to a first monitoring time interval of a media source feed and, when the watermark coverage of the first media segment does not satisfy the dropout constraint hashing first media signatures associated with the first media segment to generate corresponding first hashed signatures and generating first reference data for the first media segment, the first reference data including the first hashed signatures and the first media signatures. The example method further includes, when the watermark coverage of the first media segment satisfies the dropout constraint, generating second reference data for the first media segment, the second reference data including the first media signatures.
System and method for overlaying content on a multimedia content element based on user interest
A method and system for overlaying content on a multimedia content element. The method includes: partitioning the multimedia content element into a plurality of partitions; generating at least one signature for each partition of the multimedia content element, wherein each generated signature represents a concept; determining, based on the generated at least one signature, at least one link to content; identifying, based on the generated at least one signature, at least one of the plurality of partitions as a target area of user interest; and adding, as an overlay to the multimedia content element, the determined at least one link to content, wherein the at least one link is overlaid on the at least one target area.
Methods and apparatus to monitor on-demand media
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to monitor on-demand media. Example apparatus disclosed herein include a metadata collection controller to collect metadata associated with on-demand media in response to publication of the on-demand media. Disclosed example apparatus also include a download controller to download the on-demand media. Disclosed example apparatus further include a signature generator to generate one or more signatures representative of the on-demand media, and store a profile of the on-demand media in a data storage, the profile including the one or more signatures and the metadata associated with the on-demand media.
System and method for determining a contextual insight and generating an interface with recommendations based thereon
A system and method for generating an interface for providing recommendations based on contextual insights, the method including: generating at least one signature for at least one multimedia content element identified within an interaction between a plurality of users; generating at least one contextual insight based on the generated at least one signature and user interests of the plurality of users, wherein each contextual insight indicates a current user preference; searching for at least one content item that matches the at least one contextual insight; and generating an interface for providing the at least one content item within the interaction between the plurality of users.
Generation of media station previews using a secondary tuner
In one aspect, an example method includes (i) while a media playback device of a vehicle is playing back content received on a first channel, generating, by the media playback device, a query fingerprint using second content received on a second channel; (ii) sending, by the media playback device, the query fingerprint to a server that maintains a reference database containing a plurality of reference fingerprints; (iii) receiving, by the media playback device from the server, identifying information corresponding to a reference fingerprint of the plurality of reference fingerprints that matches the query fingerprint; and (iv) while the media playback device is playing back the first content received on the first channel, providing, by the media playback device for display, at least a portion of the identifying information.
Determining Popularity Ratings Using Social and Interactive Applications for Mass Media
Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products provide social and interactive applications for mass media based on real time ambient-audio and/or video identification. In some implementations, a method includes: receiving descriptors identifying ambient audio associated with a media broadcast; comparing the descriptors to one or more reference descriptors; and determining a rating for the media broadcast based at least in part on the results of the comparison.
METHODS AND APPARATUS TO VERIFY AND/OR CORRECT MEDIA LINEUP INFORMATION
Methods and apparatus to verify and/or correct media lineup information are disclosed. Disclosed example apparatus include means for determining reference media, the means for determining reference media to identify a plurality of first signatures in a database that matches a plurality of second signatures included in media presentation data representative of media output by a media device in response to a mismatch between the media presentation data and reference data associated with first reference media corresponding to a first station, the plurality of second signatures generated from the media output by the media device; and determine second reference media corresponding to the plurality of first signatures; and means for storing the media presentation data.
AUTOMATED MEDIA IDENTIFICATION USING BLOCK COMPARISONS OF DIFFERENT RECORDED REPRESENTATIONS
A media item included in a broadcast is identified by receiving, at a processing device including a processor, a first recorded representation of a first media broadcast, which includes a recording of at least a portion of a first media item, via a known media station. The first recorded representation. An identity of the first media item is determined based on a broadcast schedule associated with the known media station. A second recorded representation of a second media broadcast transmitted via an unknown media station, which includes a recording of at least a portion of a media-item-of-interest is also received at the processing device. The media-item-of-interest is identified by the processing device based on a block-by-block comparison of the first recorded representation to the second recorded representation. The comparison includes comparing first blocks included in the first recorded representation against second blocks included in the second recorded representation on a frame by frame basis.
