This invention is a transmission device capable of enhancing the reception characteristics of a terminal when employing transmit diversity using two antenna ports in an ePDCCH. In a base station (100) that transmits a reference signal to a terminal (200) using two antenna ports, a setting unit (102), on the basis of the reception quality of the terminal, sets as the aforementioned two antenna ports either a first antenna port pair for which DMRS (reference signals) do not undergo mutual code multiplexing, or a second antenna port pair for which the DMRS do undergo code multiplexing. A transmitter (109) transmits the DMRS from the two antenna ports set in the setting unit (102).

Various root values may be used to separate distinct uplink and downlink and synchronous or asynchronous communications. The modulating device is implemented in the frequency domain. A demodulating method and device allows the K-ary symbols thus transmitted to be recovered. The demodulating device may be implemented in the time domain or frequency domain.

The first sending power occupies at least part of a second sending power on a second frequency resource other than the first frequency resources among the frequency resources corresponding to the first symbol. The second frequency resource is not configured for sending a second DMRS. The terminal sends the first DMRS sent by the terminal on the first frequency resource based on the first sending power.
