The present disclosure relates to methods for communicating data in a wireless communication system, especially a method, performed in a wireless device, for transmitting data from the wireless device to a wireless network node in OFDMA system having multiple resource units. The method comprises obtaining instructions to use at least one of the resource units for data transmission, receiving information regarding a set of allowed combinations of transmission parameters to use when modulating signals, modulating signals from the wireless device based on the combination of the received transmission parameters to create signals having constant amplitude and/or continuous phase in the time domain using a modulation scheme other than Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing, OFDM, and transmitting the modulated signals in the frequency ranges defined by the used at least one of the resource units.

A method and base station in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes transmitting, to a terminal, system information including information associated with a sub-frame configuration of multimedia broadcast multicast service single frequency network (MBSFN) sub-frames, identifying whether the transmission mode of the terminal is a first transmission mode or a second transmission mode, transmitting, to the terminal, dedicated message including configuration information of the identified transmission mode of the terminal, transmitting, to the terminal, control information in a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and data in a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in a first sub-frame of the MBSFN sub-frames, if the terminal is configured in the first transmission mode, and transmitting, to the terminal, the control information in the PDCCH and the data in the PDSCH in a second sub-frame of a non-MBSFN sub-frames, if the terminal is configured in the second transmission mode.

The periodic broadcasting of system information by an eNB is costly in terms of both spectrum and energy. Embodiments described herein more efficiently transmit system information and are particularly applicable to 5G deployment scenarios. In one embodiment, an LTE cell broadcasts system information to be used by a UE in initially connecting to a 5G cell, termed initial access system information. The 5G cell may then transmit system information upon request by a connected UE or when the system information is updated.
