LAYER 2 VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK TRAFFIC STEERING OVER OPTICAL TRANSPORT NETWORKS
20220311704 · 2022-09-29 ·

Techniques for virtual private network (VPN) services over optical networks. Client data is received from a source device connected to a first node in an optical communication network. The client data is for transmission over the optical communication network to a destination device connected to a second node in the optical communication network. The client data is transmitted from the source device to the destination device using a layer 2 (L2) virtual network connection between the source device and the destination device. This includes transmitting the client data from the first node to the second node over an optical transport network (OTN) path through the optical communication network using a frame. The second node is configured to receive the frame and transmit the client data to the destination device based on an identifier in the frame.

A passive optical network includes a central office providing subscriber signals; a fiber distribution hub including an optical power splitter and a termination field; and a drop terminal. Distribution fibers have first ends coupled to output ports of a drop terminal and second ends coupled to the termination field. A remote unit of a DAS is retrofitted to the network by routing a second feeder cable from a base station to the hub and coupling one the distribution fibers to the second feeder cable. The remote unit is plugged into the corresponding drop terminal port, for example, with a cable arrangement having a sealed wave division multiplexer.

System and method for preserving order of data processed by processing engines

A device includes an input processing unit and an output processing unit. The input processing unit dispatches first data to one of a group of processing engines, records an identity of the one processing engine in a location in a first memory, reserves one or more corresponding locations in a second memory, causes the first data to be processed by the one processing engine, and stores the processed first data in one of the locations in the second memory. The output processing unit receives second data, assigns an entry address corresponding to a location in an output memory to the second data, transfers the second data and the entry address to one of a group of second processing engines, causes the second data to be processed by the second processing engine, and stores the processed second data to the location in the output memory.

Method for calculating spectrum timing channel, path calculating element and node

A method for computing a frequency slot channel, a path computation element and a node are disclosed. The method includes: when a frequency slot channel needs to be established, an ingress node sending to a path computation element a path computation request message which carries spectrum resource information needed for establishing the frequency slot channel; according to the received spectrum resource information sent by the ingress node, the path computation element computing out the frequency slot channel by combining of topology information of a network and spectrum resource information of each node in the network. The path computation element includes a receiving module and a computing module. When working as an ingress node in a process of establishing a frequency slot channel, the node includes a message construction module and a sending module.

Control and management for impairment-aware optical network

A network analytics engine predicts impairment of one or more communications links included in a current data path being used to transmit data through a network, and transmits information indicating the predicted impairment to a network controller in a warning message. In response to receiving the warning message, the network controller identifies potential alternative data paths that exclude any communication links predicted to experience an impairment. Before setting up an alternative data path, however, the network controller waits for a fault notification confirming the predicted impairment. If the fault notification is received before expiration of a waiting period, the network controller sets up one of the potential alternative data paths in place of the current data path.
