Eggshell Particle Containing Hydrogels And Prepolymer Compositions For Biomedical Applications
Hydrogels and hydrogel prepolymer compositions are described which include micronized eggshell particles. The hydrogels have outstanding tunability in physical, chemical, and biological properties, and have favorable properties for biomedical applications. They enable tissue formation and regeneration and are suitable for applications involving mineralized tissues such as bone, cartilage, tooth, and tendon, as well as non-mineralized tissues.
Absorbable biomedical composite material and preparation method therefor
Provided are an absorbable biomedical composite material and a preparation method therefor. The absorbable biomedical composite material comprises: substrate granules containing a calcium-phosphorus compound; an intermediate layer which is coated on the surface of each of the substrate granules and has a first glass transition temperature, the first glass transition temperature being not higher than normal human body temperature; and a polymer matrix which is formed on the outer surface of the intermediate layer and has a second glass transition temperature, the second glass transition being higher than the first glass transition temperature. The absorbable biomedical composite material has increased mechanical strength and also improved toughness.

Facemask having integrated modules
A facemask includes integrated actuating modules having sensors and other mechanisms. The facemask has one or more sockets into which various modules may be inserted. The facemask itself or the modules may include air filters and check valves to regulate airflow along or through the various modules. The modules may detect various substances either in the ambient air or the air exhaled by the wearer. The facemask also includes modules for measuring pulmonary and/or cardiovascular exertion, lung capacity and other physiological metrics. Other modules may provide supplements, vitamins or other substances such as tobacco smoke or vapor from vaporizers to the wearer. The modules may include microcontrollers in wireless communication with software applications on electronic devices so that the facemask may also serve as a cellular phone.

NANOFIBER REINFORCEMENT OF ATTACHED HYDROGELS
Described herein are hydrogels attached to a base with the strength and fatigue comparable to that of cartilage on bone and methods of forming them. The methods and apparatuses described herein may achieve an attachment strength between a hydrogel and a substrate equivalent to the osteochondral junction. In some examples the hydrogel may be a triple-network hydrogel (such as BC-PVA-PAMPS) that is attached to a porous substrate (e.g., a titanium base) with the shear strength and fatigue strength equivalent to that of the osteochondral junction.
