Content tracking system that dynamically tracks and identifies pirated content exchanged over a network

A system comprises a Content Tracking System (CTS) and Content Tracking Network Modules (CTNMs). The CTS and CTNMs identify, track, report and block piracy over a network. The CTS stores content distribution network information (CDNI) and copyright profile information. The CDNI includes blacklist sites and whitelist sites. A content generating entity generates digital content and registers the content with the CTS. The CTS generates copyright profile information, and forwards the CDNI and the copyright profile information to all of the CTNMs on the network. Each of the CNTMs monitors network traffic and detects whether a destination address of a packets matches one of the blacklist sites. If a match is detected, then the CTNM tracks all packets having the same source address as the matched packet, effectively monitoring a user. The CTNM forwards this information to the CTS to report piracy, identify new pirate sites, and to prevent further piracy.

A data selector to, when the streaming media flag is asserted: discard the media exposure event associated with the streaming media flag from the panel data and select the media exposure event from network traffic reports to credit media presented by the media presentation device, the network traffic reports obtained from a meter that monitors network traffic to and from the media presentation device.

Cloud-Based Coordination of Remote Service Appliances
20200322338 · 2020-10-08 ·

Systems, and methods are provided to provide cloud-based coordination of customer premise service appliances. A system can include a cloud-based service platform, which includes a coordination server and a cloud-based service appliance, and an on-premise service appliance. The coordination server is configured to establish a service session, select a service appliance, and control a sequence of operations on the selected service appliance. Establishing the service session can include establishing a service session with a first client in response to a service request received from the first client, the first client associated with an account including a service policy. Selecting the service appliance can include selecting the cloud-based service appliance or the on-premise service appliance, based on the service policy, to handle the service request. Upon selection of the on-premise service appliance, the coordination server controls a sequence of operations performed by the on-premise service appliance to satisfy the service request.

DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT AUTHORIZATION TOKEN PAIRING

A method and apparatus for providing a license to a client device, the license providing a key for decrypting a content instance. In one embodiment, the method comprises accepting a license request, the license request including a client identifier and an access token having an access token identifier and key request data comprising a content identifier identifying the content instance, determining if the received access token identifier is currently bound to a stored client device identifier, and temporarily binding the received access token identifier with the received client device identifier and providing the received access token for validation or returning an error without providing the received access token for validation depending upon the determination.

Streamlined Digital Rights Management

A streamlined workflow for digital rights management (DRM) licensing for content such as media assets is achieved via an authentication server establishing an authenticated session that is referenced by other processes, whereby a content grant may include a key to desired encrypted content with a portion of the content or content meta-data. The authentication server verifies the user's identity and provides a session grant including a session security mechanism, such as a token, session key, or negotiated secret. The session grant may be used to obtain a content authorization from a content router. The content authorization includes an address at which the content may be found and may be decorated with security mechanisms. The session grant and/or content authorization may include an entitlement record reflecting the user's entitlements to access content. The session grant and/or content authorization may be used to obtain a content grant from a content server.

Technology is disclosed herein for source-based authentication for a license of a license data structure. In at least one implementation, program instructions stored on one or more computer readable storage media, when executed by a processing system, direct the processing system to at least, responsive to a launch of an application, obtain a license file for the application, the license file comprising a user license. The processing system is further directed to determine authentication of the user license based on a source of the license file and, if the user license is authenticated, enable features of the application based on the user license and initiate presentation of the application in accordance with the enabled features.

Enhanced content tracking system and method

The invention, as shown by the system in FIG. 2, relates to a client-side content tracking system of media files, e.g. digital music files. Audio trackingor indeed multimedia trackingis shifted to a client-side perspective, with the client tasked with establishing use of a selected source audio track by trackingand then reporting uplink to the serverat least one of: entry and exit points associated with playing of at least one of said musical sections in the identified source audio track, and how the identified source audio track was used, performed or manipulated at the client device. Server functionality is designed, having regard to the reported tracking data and its link to a unique identifier to permit the media file (e.g. source audio track) to be selected and/or identified, to store or relaypossibly in the context of a subscription service and billing regime for content usetracking data related to use of at least a portion of the source audio track at or by the client device. In the context of audio, reporting of use at a client device can, in turn, cause streaming of related multi-media content from a third-party database to the client device. For music, reporting of entry and end points into and out of sections of complete audio tracks can coincide with musically seamless audio transitions between sections.
