To realize a configuration to output content to a medium and to use the content stored in the medium under control of the use of content. A content-output-device outputs an encrypted content and an encryption key to be applied to the using process to the medium, and a management server generates a media ID verification value based on a media ID that is an identifier of the medium and transmits the value to the medium. The medium stores the encrypted content, the encryption key, and the media ID verification value in a storage unit. A reproduction device loads the medium and calculates a verification value based on the media ID acquired from the medium, and executes a reproducing process of the encrypted content stored in the medium by data processing to which the encryption key is applied on condition that a matching process performed between the verification value and the media ID verification value stored in the medium is established.

A Master device (e.g., a SIM card) is configured with information regarding one or more Slave devices (e.g., SIM cards) that are associated with the Master device. The Master device is installed in a user device that receives content files and access and usage rights from a content provider. The Master device identifies one or more Slave devices that are associated with the Master device and transmits content files and the rights data to the Slave devices. A user device in which a Slave device is installed receives the content files and rights data sent by the Master device. The Slave device extracts a key from the rights data and provides the key to a decryption component of the user device, which uses the key to decrypt the content file.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for securely sharing user-generated content using DRM principles, and for tracking statistics of content viewing. In this way, a user can generate protected content that can still be shared among friends on, e.g., a social network.

Methods and systems for selecting and delivering content are provided. More particularly, content can be delivered to an output device from a user device through a device adaptor, such as an over-the-top (OTT) device. The OTT device or devices available to the user device are determined by a communication server. In particular, the OTT device or devices available to the user device are limited to those OTT devices associated with an output device in the user's room, or that the user is otherwise authorized to access.

The invention described herein is directed to a secure text messaging and object sharing mobile application connected to a DRM cloud service that provides encryption, digital rights management (DRM) of the text and of the attachments, blockchain transactions, the capability of attaching documents, photos and so forth, the capability of interfacing with a user's contacts application, and that operates in both Android and iOS environments.

Tools are provided for distributing access-restricted content in an internet protocol television (IPTV) environment based on portable entitlement keys. Such tools can include a decoder, an encoder, and a network entitlement handler. The decoder may be configured to receive a key associated with entitlement information, and transmit the entitlement information over a network. The encoder may be configured to receive content from content providers, and to encode the content to create IP-compatible content, with access restrictions based on entitlement. The network entitlement handler may be configured to receive a request for requested content from the decoder; receive the access-restricted content (including the requested content) from the encoder; and transmit the requested content over the network to the decoder using IP, when the decoder is entitled to receive the requested content.

The present invention relates to data rights management and more particularly to a secured system and methodology and production system and methodology related thereto and to apparatus and methodology for production side systems and are consumer side systems for securely utilizing protected electronic data files of content (protected content), and further relates to controlled distribution, and regulating usage of the respective content on a recipient device (computing system) to be limited strictly to defined permitted uses, in accordance with usage rights (associated with the respective content to control usage of that respective content), on specifically restricted to a specific one particular recipient device (for a plurality of specific particular recipient devices), or usage on some or any authorized recipient device without restriction to any one in specific, to control use of the respective content as an application software program, exporting, modifying, executing as an application program, viewing, and/or printing of electronic data files.

Exemplary embodiments are directed to a blockchain-based communication system. The system includes a first blockchain including a database configured to electronically store data associated with an originator and at least one recipient. The system includes a second blockchain configured to allow for transmission of data between the originator and the at least one recipient. The system includes a processing device in communication with the first blockchain and the second blockchain. The processing device is configured to receive a request from the originator to compose a message to be transmitted from the originator to the least one recipient. The processing device is configured to transmit within the second blockchain the message from an originator node associated with the originator to a recipient node associated with the at least one recipient.

A method and apparatus for digital rights management (DRM) with steps and means for receiving a registration request from one of a plurality of DRM agent devices requesting to register one of a plurality of user accounts and the one DRM agent device to one of a plurality of rights issuers, completing a registration process in the one rights issuer, including establishment of a relationship among the one user account, the one DRM agent device and the one rights issuer; and returning a registration completion response to the one DRM agent device. The invention provides support to the many-to-many relationships among DRM entities, such as DRM agent device, user account and rights issuer, so that the DRM system can be applied to more business modes.

Media content is delivered to a variety of mobile devices in a protected manner based on client-server architecture with a symmetric (private-key) encryption scheme. A media preparation server (MPS) encrypts media content and publishes and stores it on a content delivery server (CDS), such as a server in a content distribution network (CDN). Client devices can freely obtain the media content from the CDS and can also freely distribute the media content further. They cannot, however, play the content without first obtaining a decryption key and license. Access to decryption keys is via a centralized rights manager, providing a desired level of DRM control.
