In some implementations, a mobile computing device may participate in the calibration of an output signal of a media device. This calibration process includes storing device-specific calibration data which is related to properties of a light sensor of the mobile device. The mobile device then detects of properties of light emitted by the display device during a presentation to obtain sensor values related to light emitted by the display device during the presentation. The calibration process may also ensure that the mobile device is proximate to the display device prior to obtaining the sensor values. The collected sensor values are adjusted using device-specific calibration data stored to the mobile device to normalize the sensor values relative to a baseline. These normalized sensor values are sent to the media device for use in adjusting the output signal based on the normalized sensor values.

The multi-modal communication comprises a first communication modality and a second communication modality. The method includes aggregating the one or more events from the event logs as a plurality of aggregated events and resolving an identity of each user from among the plurality of users in the plurality of aggregated events. The method includes storing the aggregated events into a communication history of the multi-modal communication. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

The system includes configuration circuitry designed to automatically perform a sequential analysis of multiple interface configuration options for the connection interface between the headset device and telephone. The analysis of each respective interface configuration option includes (a) accessing stored configuration information defining predefined switch positions for an array of controllable switches (e.g., optical switches) corresponding with the respective interface configuration option, (b) set the array of switches to the predefined switch positions specified by the accessed configuration information, and (c) performing a signal analysis to analyze electrical signals on the connection interface. The configuration circuitry may then select a best interface configuration option based on the signal analyses, and set the switches to the predefined switch positions corresponding with the selected best interface configuration option.

Accessibility features may facilitate a user to interface with his/her mobile device and may be referred to as user-interface parameters configured to generate output or to receive input. The mobile device may generate an accessibility icon corresponding to one or more user-interface parameters selected by the user. The mobile device may also store a set of values provided by the user, where individual values correspond to individual user-interface parameters. Subsequently, the mobile device displays the accessibility icon such that the user may actuate the accessibility icon to adjust the user-interface parameters based on the values. Further, the user-interface parameters may be adjusted to more than one set of values. The mobile device may generate multiple accessibility icons that each correspond to different collections of the user-interface parameters.

The method includes providing a user communication device including a processor that is programmed to perform the step of, upon disconnection of an emergency call to a hearing user in which a captioning service has provided text transcription of voice messages from the hearing user, maintaining a link to the captioning service for a predetermined period of time. The processor also is programmed to perform the step of recognizing the call as an emergency call upon placement of the call, and the captioning service is automatically initiated upon the processor performing that recognition.
