The implementation method includes acquiring, by the IP terminal, a group address, group-sending, by the IP terminal, a base phone query message according to the group address, and determining whether a base phone feedback message is received, and when the IP terminal receives the base phone feedback message fed back by a base phone, marking the IP terminal as an additional phone, and otherwise marking the IP terminal as a base phone, and registering with a server, and according to the implementation method the base phone and the additional phone are set up using IP terminals, which avoids disadvantages of a lack of security protection and proneness to theft when an analog phone is connected in a manner of physical parallel connection of copper cables, and therefore improves security significantly.

Internet phone system

An internet phone system includes an internet phone main body, at least one expansion device and at least one multiple-layer connecting card. The internet phone main body includes a first connecting port. The at least one expansion device includes a second connecting port. One end of the multiple-layer connecting card is connected to the first connecting port, and the other end is connected to the second connecting port such that the internet phone main body can be electrically connected to the expansion device via the multiple-layer connecting card.

Method, system and apparatus for causing a communication client to join a media-over-packet communication session

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a method, system and apparatus for causing a communication client to join a media-over-packet communication session. The method comprises receiving from a communication client an indication indicative of a desire of the communication client to establish a communication session, the communication client being registered in association with a user account. The method further comprises determining if there exists at least one active communication session established with at least one other communication client registered in association with the user account. Responsive to determining that there does exist at least one active communication session, the method further comprises causing the communication client to join at least one of the at least one active communication session.

A telecommunication terminal that integrated with a wireless access point is provided. According to one embodiment, a telecommunication terminal includes a local area network (LAN) port, a processor, an Internet Protocol (IP) phone unit, a wireless access point unit and a housing. The LAN port is connectable to an enterprise computer network via an Ethernet cable. The processor runs a host operating system (OS). The IP phone unit is implemented as an application that is loaded and run within the host OS. The wireless access point unit facilitates access to the enterprise computer network by wireless devices within a coverage area of the wireless access point unit by providing wireless connections to the wireless devices and is implemented as an application that is loaded and run within the host OS. The housing encloses the processor and the LAN port.

Maintaining an automobile configuration of a mobile computing device while switching between automobile and non-automobile user interfaces

A device is described that, while operating in an automobile configuration, causes a vehicle system of an automobile to display part of an automobile graphical user interface (GUI) while locally displaying a different part of the automobile GUI. Responsive to receiving user input for switching to a non-automobile GUI that permits access to at least some features of the device that are restricted by the automobile GUI, the device replaces the part of the automobile GUI that is locally displayed on the device with the non-automobile GUI, all while continuing to cause the vehicle system to display its part of the automobile GUI. The device accesses the at least some features of the device and responsive to receiving user input for switching back to the automobile GUI, the device replaces the non-automobile GUI with the part of the automobile GUI that was previously displayed by the device.

A phone appliance and method of use are provided where the phone appliance can be used to make VoIP communications calls. In a preferred embodiment, the phone appliance includes an RF connection for connecting to a computer or other computing device for facilitating the placement of the VoIP communications calls. The phone appliance further includes a display or portal for depicting advertisements provided by various advertisers. The advertisements provided can be used to defray all or part of the cost associated with making VoIP communications calls. The portal can also be used to communicate with businesses for ordering products. such as ordering a pizza, and to perform various services, such as purchasing stocks. In an exemplary system, the phone appliance is used to transmit to a control center information related to the user of the phone appliance, such as interests and buying habits, and queries for receiving additional information for various advertised products and services. The control center transmits the queries to the appropriate vendors for providing the user with additional information. Other functions and features are provided to the phone appliance, such as being able to download e-mail messages stored within or received by the computer.

Novel tools and techniques for providing enhanced services to telephone subscribers with multiple telephone lines, which can include one or more traditional telephone lines, wireless telephone lines, Internet protocol-based telephone lines, and/or the like. For example, certain tools can provide a subscriber with a unified voice mailbox for a plurality of the subscriber's telephone lines. In some cases, the subscriber does not need to check multiple voice mailboxes (each associated with one of the subscriber's telephone numbers) in order to ensure that the subscriber has received all messages intended for that subscriber. Instead, any incoming call on any of the subscriber's lines can be routed to a converged voice mailbox for easy retrieval by the subscriber of all messages from one location. Some tools employ a VoIP switch to handle routing of the incoming call to the correct voice mailbox.
