A system, method, and computer readable medium for providing additional information to called parties comprises receiving a call from a calling party, performing a lookup of information associated with the calling party in a database, receiving the information from the database, and forwarding the information to a called party. The system comprises at least one device for receiving a call from a calling party, and at least one database for storing information associated with the calling party, wherein the at least one device is operable to perform a lookup of information associated with the calling party in a database, receive the information from the database, and forward the information to a called party.

A method, system, and computer program product, include receiving a request for registration from a service provider, upon the service receiver having authorized the request for registration, registering characteristic information of the service call in a user device of a service receiver, and upon a lapse of time, deregistering the characteristic information from the user device.

Methods and systems to display, in real time, detailed attribute information regarding a calling party. This information may be presented to a user in conjunction with an incoming voice-call or message on the user's smartphone/mobile internet device (MID) or other mobile device. Such information can help him/her in real-time to decide whether to respond to the communication. Attribute information is collected at a caller attributes processing server and communicated to a receiver device of the called party.

Systems and techniques are disclosed for establishing inbound calls and outbound calls involving inmates and outside parties. One exemplary technique receives input identifying authorized sources who are authorized to initiate and conduct calls with an inmate and stores a list of the authorized sources. The list, for example, can include telephone numbers, VOIP caller identifiers, and/or call privileges associated with the sources. The technique receives an inbound call directed to the inmate and determines whether the source of the inbound call is authorized or not, for example, by comparing information about the source with information in the list of authorized sources and/or based on the call privileges. If the source is authorized, the call is permitted. If not the technique routes the call to a payment interface for the caller to provide payment information.

A method is provided for providing caller ID for a caller. An indication is received from a social networking site on which a caller has a profile that the caller has signed into the social networking site. A request is received from the caller to place a call to a callee. The system automatically associates at least one aspect of the caller's profile from the social networking site with the call request. The system then signals to the callee that there is a new call by displaying the call request with the at least one aspect of the caller's profile from the social networking site. A method is also provided for enhancing a callee's control over receiving a call. A method is also provided for facilitating web calling by a caller.

Aspects of the present invention confirm that a phone number is associated with a particular phone. The phone number is confirmed to be associated with the phone by causing the phone to transmit a verification message addressed to that phone number. Receipt by the phone of the verification message confirms that the number is associated with that phone. Another aspect of the invention concerns updating the status of phones in a status list of phone numbers on a phone by sending the status list and updated status of the phone to a network server. The server monitors the status of at least one of the phones in the status list and transmits that status to the phone, which updated status is then displayed in a display area of the phone.

A call processing method, applied in a first terminal, includes: when a call request associated with a second terminal is monitored, acquiring an identification of the second terminal; acquiring historical call information corresponding to the identification of the second terminal; and displaying the historical call information on a current call interface of the call request.

Methods and apparatus for authenticating a calling party in respect of a call session are disclosed. The call session is carried out over a communications network between a first communication terminal associated with the calling party and a second communication terminal associated with a called party. The calling party is associated with an organization and the method includes retrieving contact information of one or more calling parties from a database in communication with the server, the contact information including, for each said calling party, an association between a phone number of the first communication terminal and an identity of the associated organization of the calling party, and transmitting the contact information to the second communication terminal, to cause information representing the identity of the associated organization to be displayed by the second communication terminal in response to the second communication terminal receiving an incoming call from the phone number.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for providing information at an electronic device. Incoming call entries and outgoing call entries corresponding to phone numbers are displayed. Based on receiving a selection of one of the call entries, a first option is displayed for modifying prestored contact information associated with the phone number corresponding to the call entry, without displaying a second option for adding the phone number to the address book, and call history information is displayed for the phone number, when the phone number is in the address book. The prestored contact information associated with the phone number includes a name for the phone number. The second option is displayed, without displaying the first option, and the call history information for the phone number is displayed, when the phone number is not in the address book.
