A device receives call information associated with a call from a first user device to a second user device, where the first user device is associated with a first network, and the second user device is associated with a second network separate from the first network. The call information includes a caller identification and is received via an originating network device of the first network. The device determines whether the caller identification is verified, and adds authentication information to the call information when the caller identification is verified. The device receives the call information and the authentication information from a terminating network device of the first network, and removes the authentication information from the call information. The device adds a cryptographic signature to the call information, and causes the call information and the cryptographic signature to be provided to the second network for routing to the second user device.

A communication device and method can include one or more processors operatively coupled to memory and an audible output device, where the one or more processors receive a call from a calling party that includes caller identification information and a voice paging message associated with the caller identification information, presenting the caller identification information, presenting the voice paging message as an alias of or to a ring tone or interleaved with the ring tone before the call from the calling party is answered or rejected. A communication device and method can include one or more processors operatively coupled to memory and an audible output device, where the one or more processors receive a call from a calling party that includes caller identification information and a voice paging message associated with the caller identification information, presenting the caller identification information, presenting the voice paging message as an alias of or to a ring tone or interleaved with the ring tone before the call from the calling party is answered or rejected. Aspects of the disclosure relate to apparatus and methods of event scheduling and notification. According to one aspect, a method, operational at a server, may include determining that a prescheduled event is concluded, sending a first notification message to one or more user communication addresses associated with the prescheduled event, determining if a first acknowledgement to the first notification message is received before a first predetermined period of time elapses, and sending a second notification message to the one or more user communication addresses if the first acknowledgement is not received by expiration of the first predetermined period of time. The method may further include determining if a second acknowledgment to the second notification message is received before a second predetermined period of time elapses and sending a third notification message to the communication addresses and a first alternate contact notification message to an alternate contact communication address.

The present disclosure describes a system, method, and computer-readable medium for providing audio announcement of communications to a called party in a communication network. The method includes receiving communication from a calling party and performing a lookup of information relating to the calling party in a database via an Internet Protocol connection based on an identifier of at least one of the calling party and the called party. The information comprises one or more audio files. The method then provides the audio announcement to a called party based on the audio files.

A process for real-time data exchange allows for sharing data, including metadata such as user data and phone data, between multiple handsets so that handsets may automatically display such data upon initiation or establishment of a telephone call, and in some arrangements throughout the life of the call. In this way, the need for subsequent data transmissions is reduced or eliminated, making bandwidth usage more efficient and conserving battery power.

An example method of notifying a user of a message received by a first device of the user includes connecting, by the first device, to a second device of the user through a local communication network, wherein the second device is currently registered by the first device; receiving, by the first device, a message, from an external device of another user; in response to determining the first device is not currently being used when the message is received, determining whether the registered second device is currently being used; and transmitting notification information of the received message to the second device currently being used by the user, wherein a notification regarding the received message is displayed on a display of the second device currently being used by the user.
