ENABLING STEREO CONTENT FOR VOICE CALLS
20220392460 · 2022-12-08 ·

Disclosed are systems and methods to modify the Bluetooth mono HFP protocol to support bi-directional stereo operation for high bandwidth audio including 12-KHz wide-band, 16-KHz super wide-band (SWB), and 24-KHz full band (FB) audio. The techniques leverage the larger packet size and longer duty cycle of the 2-EV5 transport packet and expand the block size of the audio frames generated by the AAC-ELD codec to increase the maximum data throughput from the 64 kbps of the mono HFP protocol to 192 kbps using a stereo HFP protocol. The increased throughput not only supports stereo operations, but allows the transport of redundant or FEC packets for increased robustness against packet loss. In one aspect, the AAC-ELD codec may be configured for dynamic bit rate switching to flexibly perform trade-offs between audio quality and robustness against packet loss. The stereo HFP may configure the maximum throughput based on the desired audio quality.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUGMENTING VEHICLE PHONE AUDIO WITH BACKGROUND SOUNDS
20220383893 · 2022-12-01 ·

A vehicle infotainment system that adds background sounds to an outgoing call on a mobile device. The infotainment system comprises: i) a database of selectable augmenting audio signals; and ii) audio processing circuitry configured to receive at a first input an uplink signal from the infotainment system and receive at a second input a selected augmenting audio signal. The audio processing circuitry adapts a spectrum of the first selected augmenting audio signal to prevent the selected augmenting audio signal from masking the uplink signal and combines the adapted selected augmenting audio signal and the uplink signal to produce an augmented uplink signal at an output.

Portable device detection

A plurality of transducers positioned at respective specified locations in a vehicle are actuated to generate a plurality of respective tones. A plurality of respective time differences are determined between times that each respective tone is generated by the respective transducer and the tone is detected by a portable device. A location of the portable device is determined based at least in part on the time differences.

Hands-free mode optimization with multiple devices

Methods and systems are described for coordinating multiple calls across multiple devices. The system includes a communication interface configured to be paired with multiple mobile devices while maintaining concurrent communication with the multiple mobile devices. A controller is configured to connect a microphone and a speaker to the first mobile device via the communication interface to transmit and receive audio in a hands-free mode in response to detecting the first call at the first mobile device. The controller is configured to output a first prompt for selection of whether to continue the first call through the communication interface in the hands-free mode in response to detecting the second call at the second mobile device. The controller is configured to disconnect the microphone and the speaker from the first mobile device in response to receiving a first input indicating a selection of exiting the hands-free mode for the first call.

WIRELESS HEADSET
20220377166 · 2022-11-24 ·

A wireless headset includes a first wireless transceiver module, an account processing module, a session control module, a headset module, and a network communication processing module. The first wireless transceiver module is configured to implement data transmission between the wireless headset and a wireless base station via a first wireless communication protocol. The network communication processing module is configured to process a registration instruction sent by the account processing module to obtain a registration request, and send the registration request to the first wireless transceiver module. The first wireless transceiver module sends the registration request to the wireless base station. The network communication processing module is further configured to forward session control data sent by the session control module and media data of the headset module to the first wireless transceiver module.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SWITCHING WIRELESS AUDIO CONNECTIONS DURING A CALL

A method performed by a first electronic device that is communicatively coupled to a wireless headset, the method includes, while engaged in a call with a second electronic device, communicating with the wireless headset via a bi-directional wireless audio connection; determining that a joint media playback session has been initiated in which the first and second electronic devices are to independently stream media content for separate playback by both of the first and second electronic devices while engaging in the call; and switching to communicate with the wireless headset via a uni-directional wireless audio connection based on a determination of one or more capabilities of the wireless headset, wherein a mix of 1) one or more signals associated with the call and 2) an audio signal of the media content is transmitted to the wireless headset over the uni-directional wireless audio connection.

Method and apparatus to simplify replacing existing IP phone with new IP phone using headset
11588864 · 2023-02-21 · ·

A call control entity communicates with Internet Protocol (IP) phones. The call control entity creates a mapping between a headset identifier of a headset connected to a registered first IP phone, and an identifier associated with the first IP phone. Upon receiving a request from a second IP phone that is not registered, the call control entity determines there is no existing IP phone record for the second IP phone. Responsive to the determining, the call control entity acquires from the second IP phone the headset identifier, and accesses an first IP phone record of the first IP phone based on the headset identifier and the mapping. The call control entity creates a second IP phone record for the second IP phone, copies existing configuration information from the first IP phone record to the second IP phone record, and configures the second IP phone with the existing configuration information.

Remote messaging for mobile communication device and accessory

Message notifications to an accessory from a mobile communication device are provided according to some embodiments of the invention. When a message such as a text message, email, and/or voicemail is received at a mobile communication device, the mobile communication device can notify an attached accessory that a message has been received. In response, the accessory can request the full message, media associated with the message, an attachment to the message, and/or an audio/video stream of the message for presentation to a user.

Reminder method and apparatus and electronic device

A reminder method and apparatus and an electronic device. When a difference between a voice volume of a user in conversation and a reference volume is greater than a preset threshold, output of reminder to the user is controlled. Thus, the user may be reminded when his/her conversation is too loud for the surrounding environment automatically according to a comparing result of the voice volume of the user in conversation and the reference volume, and user experience may be improved.

Methods and systems for managing conferencing features using a distributed communication controller

Methods and systems are provided for enhancing communications mobility in an enterprise a distributed communication controller. The distributed communication controller integrates user devices and conference equipment and provides the user with directions within an enterprise to an appropriate location to conduct a conference call. The distributed communication controller determines that a conference meeting is about to begin and determines a location of the user device. Based on a capability of the user device and the requirements of the conference meeting, the distributed communication controller sends navigation instructions that direct the user to a location in an enterprise facility to successfully conduct a conference call. The navigation instructions are provided in real time as the user moves throughout the facility.
