System and method for limiting mobile device functionality

The present invention relates to systems and methods that employ various mechanisms to selectively disable mobile device functionality. In general, mobile devices can be utilized to store personal and/or highly sensitive information such as bank account numbers, social security numbers, credit card numbers and the like. If the mobile device is lost or stolen, data stored within the device can be accessed by an unauthorized user; and, thus, any personal and/or highly sensitive information can be obtained. In order to mitigate unauthorized access, the subject invention provides a disabling component that communicates with the lost or stolen device to render data stored thereon inaccessible. Further, the data can be stored in local or remote locations to backup stored information, thereby creating a more robust and reliable method of storing information important to the device owner. These features provide enhancements over conventional mobile device security techniques.

A system for controlling, monitoring, and recording of wireless telecommunications services associated with penal institutions is provided comprising a portable electronic device and application executing on the device that present a listing of available call destinations based on receiving a first instruction from a first authorized party possessing the device. The application receives a second instruction comprising a choice of a first call destination from the listing. The application transmits a third instruction requesting connection with the destination and joins a second authorized party associated with the first call destination in a first voice session. The application joins the first authorized party to the first session. The application further joins the first party to a second voice session initiated by the second party based on determining that the second party initiated the second session from the first destination. The device originates and receives transmissions solely upon approval of the application.

Mobile communication method and mobile station to prohibit retransmission of assistance information

An objective is to prohibit retransmission of “UE assistance information”. A mobile communication method according to the present invention includes the steps of: transmitting “UE assistance information” to a radio base station (eNB) by a mobile station (UE), the “UE assistance information” prompting the radio base station (eNB) to change a parameter for the mobile station UE used in the radio base station; notifying, by the radio base station (eNB), the mobile station (UE) of a transmission-prohibited period of the “UE assistance information”; and stopping, by the mobile station (UE), retransmission of the “UE assistance information” on the basis of the transmission-prohibited period.

Information processing apparatus, network control apparatus, wireless communication apparatus, communication system, and information processing method

An information processing apparatus and method provide logic for processing information. In one implementation, an information processing apparatus may include a receiving unit configured to receive, from a first communications device, a request for information identifying at least one second communications device. In such implementations, the second communications device may be associated with the first communications device, and the first and second communications devices may share at least one connection right. The information processing apparatus may also include a control unit configured to obtain the information, based on the received request, and generate an instruction to transmit the information to the first communications device.

System and method for establishing real-time location

A communication system with a master device configured to determine location information in real-time with respect to a portable device. The master device may direct one or more monitor devices to monitor communications that occur over a primary communication link. The monitor devices may sense characteristic information about the signal from the portable device, and communicate this characteristic information to the master device via an auxiliary communication link. The communication system may determine location of the portable device, authenticate the portable device, determine whether the portable device is authorized to allow or initiate an action, and command or enable an action with respect to equipment.

According to one embodiment, a first unlock code is received 420 at a user device 210 from a computer based unlock code generator. The first unlock code is received at a part of receiving a lock command for locking the user device 210. The unlock code generator is not under the control of the user. The first unlock code 212 is stored 430 at the user device 210. A second unlock code, which is provided by the user via a computer based device, is received 440 at the user device 210. The first unlock code 212 and the second unlock code are compared 450 at the user device. The user device is unlocked 460 if the first unlock code 212 is the same as the second unlock code.
