Internet protocol based 911 system
The present invention provides a system, method and apparatus for initiating and handling an emergency IP request using an IP enabled device having GPS capability. The IP enabled device is monitored for one or more emergency criteria. If the emergency criteria are satisfied, global positioning data is obtained using the GPS capability and the emergency IP request is sent to an address server. The address server receives the emergency IP request, obtains local emergency services data based on the global positioning data, dials a call center station based on the local emergency services data and passes an emergency call from the IP enabled device to the call center station. This invention can be implemented as a computer program embedded in a computer readable medium wherein the steps are performed by one or more code segments.
Method and apparatus for performing a passive indoor localization of a mobile endpoint device
A method, computer readable storage device and an apparatus for locating a mobile endpoint device in an indoor environment are disclosed. For example, the method generates a location map having a predicted signal strength for each respective location on the location map, receives a signal strength associated with the mobile endpoint device within the indoor environment, compares the signal strength to the location map having the predicted signal strength for each respective location on the location map and locates the mobile endpoint device as being at a particular location within the indoor environment.
POWER OUTLET CAMERAS
A security system can can be configured to mount to a power outlet. The security system can include a detection system comprising a camera, motion detector, speaker, microphone, and a pair of electrical prongs arranged and configured to protrude into the power outlet to receive power for the detection system. The security system can also include a remote computing device communicatively coupled to the detection system.
Crime reporting in a controlled-environment facility
Embodiments of the invention are directed to communication systems and methods that allow a resident of a controlled environment facility to report a past, on-going or threatened crime, such as a rape. The resident is able to make the report using a facility communications system without alerting other residents of the controlled environment facility that the crime has been reported.
Emergency information in system information broadcast
A method and apparatus for providing an ETWS message to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU is configured to receive a paging message indicating a change in system information, wherein in response to the paging message to receive a system information block (SIB) 1 to determine a schedule for reception of earthquake and tsunami warning system (ETWS) information in system information blocks (SIBs). The WTRU is further configured to receive the SIBs with the ETWS information and to separately receive segments of an ETWS message and to combine the segments to reproduce the ETWS message.
Electronic device and method for calling emergency contact number
A method for safeguarding the health of a user using an electronic device includes the electronic device calling at least one emergency contact number with pre-stored medical information of the user and at least one emergency contact number stored in a storage device of the electronic device. When a command inputted by the user is received, medical information relevant to the user is broadcast and is also displayed on a display of the electronic device. A message including current location of the user and the medical information is sent to the at least one emergency contact number, and a phone call is dialed to the at least one emergency contact number.
Audio amplifier activation device, audio amplifier, and remote broadcast system
Provided is a remote broadcast system including an audio amplifier activation device configured to turn on when a level of input sound via a smartphone mobile unit exceeds a threshold, a power source for an audio amplifier configured to amplify a signal of the input sound into a broadcast audio signal, and output the broadcast audio signal to a broadcast loudspeaker, the audio amplifier activation device being configured also to turn off the power source for the audio amplifier when the level of the input sound remains lower than the threshold for a predetermined time period. A broadcaster carrying a smartphone base unit can select a smartphone mobile station via the smartphone base unit, and establish a communication link between the smartphone base unit and the smartphone mobile station. With this, the broadcaster is allowed to broadcast evacuation guidance information even while evacuating.

Facilitating collection and display of information related to data usage by a plurality of mobile devices
A method for facilitating collection and display of information related to data usage by a plurality of mobile devices is disclosed. The method involves receiving first quantity information and sending a first identifier associated with the plurality of mobile devices and first activity-related information including the first quantity information to a server. The method also involves receiving group activity-related information associated with the plurality of mobile devices, the group activity-related information derived at least in part from second activity-related information including second quantity information, and producing signals for causing a display to display information derived from the group activity-related information. A method of associating a plurality of mobile devices in a group is also disclosed. Systems and computer-readable media for facilitating collection and display of information related to data usage by a plurality of mobile devices and for associating a plurality of mobile devices in a group are also disclosed.
Proximity-based verification of programming instructions
A mobile device, such as a smart phone, generates instructions for a user device, such as a wearable device for a child. The mobile device initiates a local network associated with an attribute, and the user device may access the local network using the attribute when the user device is within a threshold distance of the mobile device. The mobile device generates program data identifying the instructions and the local network attribute, and mobile device forwards the programming data to the user device via another network. For example, the mobile device may generate a short messaging service (SMS) message that includes the programming data. The user device executes the instructions when the user device is able to communicate with the mobile device via the local network.
