Low power modes for data transmission from a distribution point
Methods and devices are discussed. A device configured to operate in a network comprises communication circuitry and a transceiver.
DSL systems and methods
Methods, techniques, computer program products, apparatus, devices, etc., used in connection with DSL Management Interfaces, significantly improve the management capabilities of a DSL network and/or improve testing relating to DSL equipment and services by permitting better control and operation of a DSL system, including implementation of timestamping for more accurate measurement, monitoring and control of a system. Timestamping further allows customized data collection techniques, where a DSL line can be measured or monitored at intervals whose frequency depends on the line's stability. Moreover, data parameter read and control parameter write operations are presented in conjunction with the use of timestamping. Also, control and operation of a DSL system is enhanced by implementing bit-loading that minimizes, eliminates or otherwise mitigates the amount by which the SNR margin per tone exceeds a maximum SNR margin quantity, where such bit-loading can be selected through an appropriate interface.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SENDING, DELIVERY AND RECEIVING OF FAXES USING A REMOTELY DEPLOYED FAX SERVICE OR SYSTEM
Embodiments of systems and methods for the sending, delivery and receiving of faxes are disclosed herein. In particular, certain embodiments include a fax connector that may be deployed at a user's site, and a faxing system that may be deployed remotely from the user's site. The fax connector can be accessed at the user's site over a computer based network in order to perform functions associated with faxing, including sending, receiving and obtaining status on faxes. The fax connector deployed at the user's site communicates with the remotely deployed faxing system to send, receive, obtain status on, or perform other functions associated with, faxing.

METHOD OF QUICK CONNECTION OF PSTN MODEMS AND PSTN MODEM WITH FAST CONNECTION ACCORDING TO SUCH METHOD
A method of quick set up of PSTN modem connection is proposed. The method of quick set up of PSTN modem connection comprises: setting access to the data channel, identifying channel characteristics, configuring PSTN modems depending on the characteristics of the channel, configuring echo compensators of PSTN modems, negotiating the connection protocol and data transfer between PSTN modems according to the configuration using the agreed protocol where: data transmission is carried out in duplex mode with the separation of signals of reception and transmission by echo compensation, identification of channel characteristics and adjustment of the echo compensator of each of the PSTN modems is performed, respectively, when receiving and transmitting at least one training sequence by each PSTN modem, access to the data channel is carried out by sending call by PSTN modem, which contains the training sequence and connection parameters for negotiation, where using a multiple access protocol, when each of the PSTN modems is connected to the data channel asynchronously, without agreeing on the time of connection and without the need to pre-allocate the roles of calling and responding modems.
Systems, methods, and storage media for testing local loops of telecommunications networks
Automatic testing/analysis of local loops of telecommunications networks includes obtaining bits-per-tone data for a local loop of a telecommunications network and generating a bit value string from the bits-per-tone data. The bit value string is then analyzed to determine whether it includes a bit pattern indicative of an impairment of the local loop. Further approaches for automatically testing local loops of telecommunications networks include obtaining attenuation data for multiple tones carried by the local loop and determining whether the attenuation data falls below thresholds for providing a service using the local loop.
Dynamic digital communication system control
Control of a digital communication system having a plurality of communication lines on which signals are transmitted and received is implemented using a variety of methods and systems. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method is implemented where the signals are affected by interference during transmission and each of the communication lines has at least one transmitter and at least one receiver. A model is created of the interference characteristics due to the signals carried on the communication lines. Interference characteristics for a line are determined based on the model and actual signals carried on other communication lines different from the line for which the characteristics are being determined. Actual interference is compensated for on the communication line using the determined interference characteristics.
DSL modem with low-power mode
According to an embodiment, a DSL transceiver includes a power mode controller and a transmitter. The power mode controller is configured to set the DSL transceiver in a low power mode and move the DSL transceiver out of the low power mode responsive to the DSL transceiver receiving data. The transmitter is configured to transmit data only on a first group of sub-carriers when the power mode controller is moving the DSL transceiver out of the low power mode, the first group of sub-carriers being a subset of the sub-carriers available to the DSL transceiver for transmission.
Methods, devices and systems of supporting discontinuous operation in communication systems using vectoring
Methods, devices and systems of supporting discontinuous operation in communication systems using vectoring Methods, devices and techniques are disclosed where vectoring is adapted to lines becoming inactive and active, for example in a discontinued operation. In some embodiments, the vectoring is modified based on already present coefficients.
Training optimization of multiple lines in a vectored system using a prepared-to-join group
A method for initialization of a group of customer premises equipment devices (CPEs) during a training that registers capabilities of the CPEs is disclosed, wherein at least one CPE registers late to the training and cannot be registered. The method includes determining capabilities of the CPEs during a joining phase of the training, wherein it is determined whether a CPE device is capable of employing vectoring and placing in a hold status the at least one CPE that registers late by keeping a line active that is coupled to the at least one CPE. The method further includes providing another joining phase after the joining phase to register the at least one CPE that registers late.
