A method of operating a captioned telephone call in which an assisted user's (AU's) captioned device is connected by a first line to a hearing user's (HU's) device and by a second line to a relay providing captioning for a conversation is disclosed. The method includes capturing an AU's voice signal via a microphone, transmitting the voice signal from the captioned device to the HU's device on the first line, obtaining a combined voice signal including both users' voice signals from the first line at the captioned device, cancelling the AU's voice signal from the combined signal to generate an independent HU voice signal, broadcasting the HU's voice signal via a speaker, transmitting the independent HU's voice signal to the relay, receiving captions at the captioned device from the relay corresponding to the HU's voice signal, and presenting the captions as text on a display screen.

Alias numbers can be enabled on multiple computing appliances, such that a user can transfer voice or video calls between devices using the alias numbers. Further, monitoring components in a home environment, for example, can be associated with one or more alias number so that security alerts can be provided to the various computing devices and computing appliances associated with the alias numbers.

Method and Arrangement in a DSL Vectoring System

Vector Control Entity and method therein for Disorderly Leaving Events, DLEs, causing Sudden Termination Change in a DSL system. The method comprises, when a DLE occurs on a line m in a vectored group of DSL lines, and the transmission on line m is, at least partly, continued: obtaining at least one error sample from CPEs connected to other lines in the vectored group of DSL lines, and calculating an estimate of the channel coefficients, H′, changed due to the DLE. The estimate is calculated based on the at least one error sample, and thus a channel estimate is provided. The method further comprises modifying a downstream precoder, based on the channel estimate, such that retraining of the other lines in the vectored group due to the DLE is avoided. The estimate of the channel coefficients is calculated based on the model H′=H+CΛH.

Training optimization of multiple lines in a vectored system using a prepared-to-join group

A method for initialization of a group of customer premises equipment devices (CPEs) during a training that registers capabilities of the CPEs is disclosed, wherein at least one CPE registers late to the training and cannot be registered. The method includes determining capabilities of the CPEs during a joining phase of the training, wherein it is determined whether a CPE device is capable of employing vectoring, and placing in a hold status the at least one CPE that registers late by keeping a line active that is coupled to the at least one CPE. The method further includes providing another joining phase after the joining phase to register the at least one CPE that registers late.

Low power mode for vectored data transmission

Vectored communication devices and methods are provided for communication via a plurality of communication connections. Communication on at least some of the communication connections is switchable between a low power mode and a regular mode.

CHANNEL ADAPTATION FOR MULTICARRIER ARRANGEMENT
20170237536 · 2017-08-17 ·

Implementations related to updating channel adaptation parameters are described. In one implementation, an R2T frame, such as an acknowledgment (ACK) frame, is modified to carry a partial bit allocation table (BAT). The R2T frame may be received by a transceiver apparatus and the partial BAT carried in the header or extended header(s) of R2T frame may be used to update a BAT stored in the transceiver. In another implementation, a message frame is modified to carry a partial BAT. The message frame may be received by a transceiver apparatus and the partial BAT used to update a BAT stored in the transceiver. A unique identification number generated by the receiving transceiver apparatus may be used to synchronize BATs stored in two communicating transceivers without necessity of exchanging additional control messages.

System for providing access to the internet

A system for providing access to the internet, comprises a network of routers (R) hereinafter designated “new routers”) wherein each new router (R) has a CPU (112) that has, or is associated with, a public area (142) that allows simultaneous access to the new router's CPU by more than one user account. The system is so arranged that a pre-registered user with a user account identified by an identifier, typically a user name and/or password, can access the internet from any new router (R) in the network by connecting to the public area (142) of the new router's CPU (112) and entering the account identifier of the pre-registered user account.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a signal transmission method. The method includes: sequentially rotating phases of to-be-sent signals on a line set 1 by different angles and in relative to phases of to-be-sent signals on a line set 2, and sequentially sending, to a user side, the to-be-sent signals whose phases are rotated. The method also includes receiving a rotation factor that is of a high-quality received signal on the line set 1 and that is fed back by the user side, where the high-quality received signal includes a received signal with a high signal-to-noise ratio or high power. The method also includes using the rotation factor fed back by the user side as a fixed rotation factor, and rotating, according to the fixed rotation factor, a phase of a signal to be subsequently sent on the line set 1.

TECHNIQUES FOR PROCESSING AND STORING VECTORING COEFFICIENTS

Techniques for processing, storing, and using vectoring coefficients in a wireline communication system are disclosed. A wireline device selects victim-disturber specific parameters corresponding to a pair of digital subscriber line (DSL) lines and a subset of tones used to communicate data over the pair of DSL lines and downsamples, based at least in part on a downsampling parameter of the victim-disturber specific parameters, a set of vectoring coefficients. Each set of vectoring coefficients is quantized, and then a set of change values for each set of downsampled and quantized vectoring coefficients is compressed. The set of change values represent a difference between the downsampled and quantized vectoring coefficients across the subset of tones. The wireline device uses the compressed sets of change values to perform vectoring over the DSL lines.
