Method and Apparatus for Information Exchange in Online Charging
A method and an apparatus for information exchange in online charging in order to reduce frequency of information exchange between a Charging Trigger Function (CTF) device and an Online Charging System (OCS), and reduce a pressure of information transmission between the CTF device and the OCS, where the method includes receiving, by a CTF device, a credit control answer (CCA) message that carries a non-real-time Trigger and sent by an OCS, recording, by the CTF device, charging information before and after a corresponding event of the non-real-time Trigger happens each time before sending a credit control request (CCR) message to the OCS next time, and sending, by the CTF device, the CCR message to the OCS.
Blocked device checking in roaming scenarios
In certain cellular communication systems, a roaming communication device may attempt to establish a connection with a visited wireless communication network. Before allowing the connection, the visited network may check to see whether the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) of the device has been listed in an Equipment Identity Register (EIR) as being blocked, and may refuse the connection if the IMEI is listed as being blocked. In addition, when the home network of the device receives a request to authorize usage of the device, the home network may also check its own EIR to determine whether the IMEI has been blocked. If the IMEI has been blocked in the EIR of the home network, the home network indicates to the visited network that the connection should be refused.
Method and system for enhancing charging for co-located SGW and PGW
The present disclosure relates to a method of charging packets in a mobile network using a combined packet gateway (PGW) and serving gateway (SGW) which includes receiving a data packet; determining at least one of a rating group and a service rule associated with the data packet; and determining a state of a user device associated with the data packet. When the determined state of the user device comprises a connected state, the method includes charging the data packet, including updating an amount of credit in an account associated with the user device based on the at least one of the rating group and the service rule, and sending the data packet to an enodeB. When the determined state of the user device comprises an idle state, the method includes preventing delivery of the data packet to the enodeB such that the data packet is not charged.
Managing live video stream connections and data usage
Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are related to minimize data usage over a costly or slow communication link. When a user is not watching a video stream, the stream may be terminated preventing any further data usage on a metered data connection. A system may also include a user device and a back-end network with a stream manager service. The stream manager service terminates streaming over a wireless channel by an application of the user device when the user device determines one of inactivity of a user of the user device with the application or navigation on the user device away from the application.
Methods and Apparatus for Internet of Things Resource Management
Methods, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and network nodes for network resource management, the method in the IoT comprising: initiating a device shutdown procedure; and triggering the sending of a device shutdown message to a network node.
Emergency data statistics aggregation with data privacy protection
One disclosed method includes filtering incoming emergency data using at least one filtering criteria, as the emergency data is received in response to initiation of emergency events; generating at least one data bin representing a tally of emergency data meeting the at least one filtering criteria, without storing any of the emergency data used to generate the at least one data bin; and generating a statistical report using the at least one data bin. The statistical report may be generated real-time and displayed on a remote display.

Methods and systems for interrogation rejection during online charging system overload
Methods and systems for an online charging service to selectively rejecting Charge Control Requests (CCRs) which it receives and which are associated with charging for the provision of telecommunication services when the online charging system is in an overload state are described.
OPTIMIZATION OF NETWORK RESOURCES
A method for associating partial durations of a voice service session provided via a packet-switched network to parties of the voice service session, wherein the parties comprise a first party and a second party, and wherein dedicated network resources are assigned and/or released intermittently during the voice service session is disclosed. The method comprises invoking, when the voice service session is ongoing, a hold or temporary disconnect of the voice service session by either of the first and second party, storing a Session Description Protocol, (SDP) Offer as negotiated between the first and second party in a storage for a first time duration, and associating, to the party who invoked the hold or temporary disconnect of the voice service session, an intermediate partial duration of the voice service session that starts when the hold or temporary disconnect of the voice service session was invoked.
