Biocompatible medical device visible in x-ray and method for manufacturing thereof
A biocompatible medical device is provided having at least one surface, wherein at least a part of this surface is coated with a biocompatible layer configured to provide visibility of the device in X-rays.
COATING COMPOSITION FOR PRODUCING ARTICLE
A coating composition for producing an article is disclosed. The coating composition includes a blend of a polymer resin and a lubricating oil, wherein the coating composition is in a liquid-phase By using the coating composition, it is possible to produce the article which can be used in various industries, only with a simple process of molding and curing a polymer resin by the technique of the prior art.
Use of a substrate coating for decreasing leakage of matter
There is provided a method for decreasing leakage of matter from an object to a surrounding, said object being coated with a coating at least partially applied on the object, said coating comprising an at least partially covering layer comprising silver, said object optionally comprising area(s) without said layer, said coating comprising metal particles applied on the layer and optionally on areas without said layer, said metal particles comprising palladium and at least one metal selected from the group consisting of gold, ruthenium, rhodium, osmium, iridium, niobium, neodymium and platinum and wherein the amount of the metal particles is in the interval 0.01-8 μg/cm.sup.2. Advantages include that leakage of matter such as latex allergens of metal ions can be reduced while the coating is both biocompatible and antimicrobial. Further, the blood clotting can be reduced.
PLASMA IMMOBILIZATION OF BACTERIOPHAGES AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
A medical device, the medical device including a substrate defining a surface; a plasma polymer layer bound to and coating the surface; and a bactericide layer bound to the plasma polymer layer, the plasma polymer layer being between the substrate and the bactericide layer. Also, a method for coating a surface of a substrate of a medical device with a bactericide layer, the method including: exposing the surface to a plasma to form a plasma polymer layer bound to the surface; and binding a bactericide layer to the plasma polymer layer.
COATED ITEMS AND MANUFACTURING THEREOF
A method for manufacturing a coated item 10 in a chemical deposition reactor and a coated item produced by said method are provided. The method comprises deposition of a first coating on a first surface of the item 10, and/or deposition of a second coating on a second surface of said item.
Ultraviolet activated antimicrobial surfaces
The invention is directed to an ion plasma deposition (IPD) method adapted to coat polymer surfaces with highly adherent antimicrobial films. A controlled ion plasma deposition (IPD) process is used to coat a metal or polymer with a selected metal/metal oxide. Exposing the coated surface to ultraviolet light significantly improves the antimicrobial properties of the deposited coatings.
Application of antimicrobial agents to medical devices
Invasive medical devices including a substantially non-eluting antimicrobial treatment are disclosed. One or more external and/or internal surfaces of the medical device include a substantially non-eluting copper-coated surface that assists in preventing microbial colonization of the coated surface. This in turn reduces the incidence of infection to the patient originating from the medical device. In one embodiment, a catheter assembly is disclosed and comprises an elongate catheter tube that defines at least one lumen, at least one extension leg including a luer connector, and a bifurcation hub including at least one fluid passageway that provides fluid communication between the extension leg and the lumen. A substantially non-eluting copper coating is disposed on a surface of at least one of the lumen, the extension leg, the luer connector, and the fluid passageway. The coating is applied via an electroless deposition process. A water-shed coating is disposed on the copper coating.
BIOCOMPATIBLE Mg-P COATING ON SURFACE OF ZINC-BASED BIOMEDICAL MATERIAL, AND PREPARATION METHOD AND USE THEREOF
A biocompatible Mg—P coating on the surface of a zinc-based biomedical material, and a preparation method and use thereof are disclosed. In the method, zinc and a zinc alloy are first subjected to surface pretreatment and then soaked in a phosphate solution at a constant temperature to form the Mg—P coating through chemical liquid deposition (CLD). The control on the composition, thickness and surface morphology of the coating is realized by using the CLD method. The biocompatible Mg—P coating has a thickness of 0.5 μm to 50 μm, is dense and uniform, and comprises a main component of zinc-magnesium-phosphate and a small amount of zinc phosphate.
HYPERTONIC ANTIMICROBIAL THERAPEUTIC COMPOSITIONS
Therapeutic compositions, primarily for topical application, and methods of making and using the composition. Pharmaceutical compositions formulated for specific forms of administration are also provided.
Quantum Dots for Fungicidal Applications and Methods of Use
Certain embodiments are directed to methods and compositions for inhibiting, stabilizing or preventing fungal infections by yeast on a surface using an agent comprising one or more types of quantum dots sufficient to regulate the growth of fungal cells or biofilms thereof.
