Method and apparatus for executing virtualized network function
Provided is a technology for executing a virtualized network function in a wireless communication system. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, a server may obtain traffic processing information and mobile edge computing (MEC) service usage information regarding user equipments (UEs) that have accessed a plurality of base stations connected to the server, obtain, based on the traffic processing information and the MEC service usage information, information about traffic to occur due to UEs accessing the plurality of base stations and MEC services to be used by the UEs, and determine, based on the obtained information about the traffic and usage of the MEC services, at least one hardware component on which a software component virtualizing a network function in the server is to be executed.
MULTI SUBSCRIPTION NETWORK PRIORITIZATION
Various communication systems may benefit from appropriate prioritization of users and/or devices. For example, wireless communication systems may benefit from multi-subscription network prioritization, such as systems for prioritizing subscribers with multiple subscriptions that are using fewer devices than they have subscriptions. A method can include determining that a device is associated with a plurality of subscriptions. The method can also include determining at least one related device is not in use, wherein the at least one related device is associated with same plurality of subscriptions. The method can further include assigning a higher priority to the device based on the determinations that the device has the plurality of associated subscriptions and has at least one related device not in use.
Methods and apparatus to generate an overall performance index
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to generate an overall performance index. The overall performance index is generated from data values from multiple different datasources that measure the same aspect of network performance of wireless providers of interest. The data values are used to generate metrics that measure the same aspect of network performance. The metrics are indexed and combined to generate an overall performance index.

An improved handheld electronic device and an associated method provide an improved call log that presents information relating to logged phone calls in a collapsed manner, meaning that for each phone number having a call stored in the memory of the device, only the most recent in time call is listed on the call log. An improved handheld electronic device and an associated method also provide a call history for any phone call from the improved call log that is selected by the user. The call history includes a listing of all of the calls stored by the device that are associated with the selected call log call.

Additionally, the plurality of customer event sequences are grouped into a hierarchical framework of patterns. Further, a root-cause analysis (RCA) is performed for the customer event sequences utilizing the hierarchical framework of patterns.

Methods, apparatus, and systems manage use of shared network resources among subscribers to a data communication service. In some implementations, a first metric is computed representing a subscriber's use of the shared network resources. A second metric may also be computed that represents the amount of network congestion of the shared network resources. Data derived from the first metric and the second metric may then be presented to the subscriber. The data may be transmitted to the subscriber over a network and/or the data may be displayed to the subscriber on an electronic display.

A device determines a connection status of a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) communication interface and a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) communication interface, and stores the connection status in a queue. The device waits, subsequent to storing the connection status, for expiration of a time delay; and retrieves, subsequent to the expiration of the time delay, the connection status or another connection status from the queue. The device sends, based on the retrieved connection status or the other connection status, a service validation request to a server associated with the PLMN, and receives from the server, in response to the service validation request, a validation response that authorizes service delivery to the device via a PLMN.
Process-efficient generation of data records for data communications involving groups or aggregates of IoT devices
Methods, apparatus, and systems for the process-efficient generation of data records for data communications involving groups or aggregates of user equipment (UE), such as IoT devices, are described. In one illustrative example, for each one of a plurality of UEs associated with a group or aggregation identifier (ID), a request which includes data indicative of a network resource usage event of the UE is received and the data are stored in association with the group or aggregation ID. In response to identifying a predetermined condition, the data indicative of the network resource usage events associated with the group or aggregation ID are aggregated, and a request for generating a data record based on the aggregated data is sent to a data function for generating the data record. The generated data record (e.g. a CDR) may be stored for subsequent retrieval for reporting, analysis, network/communications management, or billing.
BANDWIDTH AWARE NETWORK STATISTICS COLLECTION
Herein disclosed are systems, methods, and apparatus for controlling data usage statistics in network-connected devices. The ‘stats’ collection can be suppressed during minimum window periods, thereby reducing CPU and resources usage needed to processes the stats collection. Further, the minimum window can be a function of a link speed of the communication channel as well as a data usage proximity to a data usage warning limit. Further, stats collection can be triggered by expiration of a timer or data usage that meets a buffer threshold, where both the timer and threshold are selected based on the communication channel link speed, and buffer threshold is further a function of the data usage proximity to the warning limit.
