Resolving unsatisfactory QoE for an application for 5G networks or hybrid 5G networks
A system and method for resolving an unsatisfactory quality of experience (QoE) for an application executed on a wireless device that accesses a CSP network is described. A QoE network appliance generates an integrated event stream that includes a RAN data set, a CN data set, a NWDAF data set, a QoE latency measurement, a QoE bandwidth measurement, and a QoE packet loss rate measurement. A measured QoE score is generated with the RAN data set, the CN data set, and the NWDAF data set. The measured QoE score is associated with a QoE latency measurement, a QoE bandwidth measurement, and a QoE packet loss rate measurement. A robotics process automation (RPA) module receives the integrated event stream when the measured QoE score fails to satisfy the QoE requirement. The RPA module performs one or more automated actions to improve the measured QoE based on information from the integrated event stream.
SEAMLESS CUSTOMER DATA MOVE BETWEEN SOURCE AND TARGET CHARGING FUNCTION ELEMENTS OF A COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
A charging system includes a source charging function element of a communications system. The source charging function element includes at least one processing circuit that is operative to process charge events for network charging related to a customer identifier to write customer data indicating the network charging into a source data partition of a global storage system. Based on receiving an event message, the source charging function element determines the customer identifier based on content of the event message and performs a look up in a translation function to obtain a mapping between the customer identifier and at least data partition that includes the source data partition. When the customer identifier is determined to be mapped by the translation function to the source data partition and to a target data partition, the source charging function element communicates with a target charging function element.
CHARGING PROCESSING METHOD AND SYSTEM AND RELATED DEVICE
A charging processing method includes: A charging trigger device sends a charging request message to a charging processing device, where the charging request message includes redundant transmission information, that is, related information of redundant transmission used for a data connection service in a data connection session; and the charging processing device performs charging processing based on the redundant transmission information, including determining a redundant service charging processing mode, performing charging processing on a usage amount reported by the charging trigger device, sending usage amount processing indication information to the charging trigger device, or the like.
Process-efficient generation of data records for data communications involving groups or aggregates of IoT devices
Methods, apparatus, and systems for the process-efficient generation of data records for data communications involving groups or aggregates of user equipment (UE), such as IoT devices, are described. In one illustrative example, for each one of a plurality of UEs associated with a group or aggregation identifier (ID), a request which includes data indicative of a network resource usage event of the UE is received and the data are stored in association with the group or aggregation ID. In response to identifying a predetermined condition, the data indicative of the network resource usage events associated with the group or aggregation ID are aggregated, and a request for generating a data record based on the aggregated data is sent to a data function for generating the data record. The generated data record (e.g. a CDR) may be stored for subsequent retrieval for reporting, analysis, network/communications management, or billing.
SERVICE DOMAIN CHARGING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
The application is at least directed to a charging system for a service domain residing on a network node. The charging system includes a service domain charging management function on the node storing charging policies for the service domain. The charging system also includes a service domain on-line charging system on the node receiving a service request from the service domain charging management function. The charging system also checks the credit for the requested service before granting the service. The charging system also includes a service domain off-line charging system on the node receiving charging events from the service domain charging management function and producing service domain charging data records. The application also is directed to a method for granting service to a requestor.
METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR SERVICE LAYER CHARGING CORRELATION WITH UNDERLYING NETWORKS
Mechanisms for service layer charging correlation are disclosed. Embodiments can include a Service Domain Charging Correlation Function (SD-CCF), which is responsible for interacting with underlying network and correlating charging information at service layer. Charging correlation information can be used to enable and facilitate the service layer charging correlation.
Offload of service charging from an online charging system
Apparatus and methods that offload charging from an Online Charging System (OCS). The OCS includes an offload controller that receives a online charging request from a policy enforcement element for a service, determines whether charging for the service is eligible to be offloaded from the OCS to an Offline Charging System (OFCS), and pushes a charging rule to the policy enforcement element to switch a charging mode for the service to offline charging. An online charging function within the OCS receives another online charging request for the service from the OFCS that reports a charging event detected by the policy enforcement element, and debits an account of an end user based on the online charging request from the OFCS.
Enhanced messaging as a platform
Aspects of the invention enhance the capabilities of the MaaP by adding interfaces thereto so that the platform directly interfaces with the OCS, the PCRF, the EIR, the CDB and the HSS without middle layer or without using RCS as an intermediary. Moreover, embodiments of the invention may create a user interface of the MaaP so that users may configure parameters to interact with the network nodes right from the user interface.
Charging filtering function
In one example, a charging filtering function may obtain a request for one or more rules that control whether or when one or more charging data records associated with a user equipment are to be provided to one or more billing systems. The request includes an identification of the user equipment. Based on the identification of the user equipment, the charging filtering function may identify the one or more rules. The charging filtering function may provide the one or more rules to control whether or when the one or more charging data records associated with the user equipment are to be provided to the one or more billing systems.
UTILIZING CLIENT DATA USAGE INFORMATION TO ADJUST BANDWIDTH IN AN ADAPTIVE BIT RATE DEVICE
An Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) device and method are described herein for utilizing client data usage information when consuming digital content from an ABR server. In one embodiment, the ABR device is configured to: (i) transmit, to the ABR server, a request for a digital content; (ii) receive, from the ABR server, a manifest associated with the digital content; (iii) select a bit rate from the manifest; (iv) obtain a data threshold (T); (v) obtain data usage information; (vi) compare the data usage information to the data threshold (T); (vii) choose a final bit rate from the manifest based on the comparison result; and (viii) receive, from the ABR server, all segments of the digital content at the final bit rate.
