Method, apparatus and mobile device for measuring internet traffic of mobile device
An apparatus for measuring and displaying Internet traffic of a mobile device, which includes a traffic measurement module and a traffic display module. The apparatus also includes a SIM card account creation module configured to create a SIM card account for each of a plurality of SIM cards. The traffic measurement module measures the Internet traffic of each of the SIM card accounts. The traffic display module displays the Internet traffic of each of the SIM card accounts. The Internet traffic of each SIM card on the mobile device may be measured and displayed.
METHOD, SYSTEM AND APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING LOW-BALANCE DATA SESSION REQUESTS
A method, system and server for processing low balance data session requests are provided. The server includes a memory storing an account record including an account balance and a count of failed service requests; a network interface; and a processor interconnected with the memory and the network interface. The processor receives a request to access a data service for a mobile device corresponding to the account record; and to determine whether the account balance is sufficient to access the data service. When the account balance is not sufficient, the processor compares the count of failed service requests to a threshold. When the count exceeds the threshold, the processor sends a notification to the mobile device, and when the count does not exceed the threshold, the processor increments the count. The processor also returns a message denying access to the data service.
Charging information for WLAN network selection in 3GPP-WLAN data offloading
A user equipment (UE) may receive charging data and use the charging data in determinations of whether to offload data from a mobile communication network, such as a 3GPP cellular network, to another wireless access network, such as a wireless local area network (WLAN). For example, the UE may receive, from the mobile communication network, charging data regarding one or more WLANs in the vicinity of the UE. The UE may also receive rules regarding whether to offload communication traffic from the cellular communication network to a particular WLAN based on charging data relating to the particular WLAN. The UE may detect one of the WLANs and determine whether to offload communication traffic to the WLAN based at least in part on the received rules and the received charging data regarding the WLAN. The determination may be further based on user preferences saved on the UE regarding the charging data.
Changing a data stream characteristic based on a data usage rate
An approach is provided for adjusting a characteristic of a data stream. A rate of data usage provided by one or more data streams within a time period that has not ended is determined. An amount of time remaining in the time period is determined. Based at least in part on the amount of time remaining in the time period and the rate of data usage, an expected amount of data usage within the entire time period is determined. Whether the expected amount of data usage exceeds a limit on data usage within the entire time period is determined. If the expected amount of data usage exceeds the limit, the characteristic of the data stream is adjusted so that actual data usage within the entire time period does not exceed the limit. The actual data usage is based in part on the adjusted characteristic.
Wireless access point having metering capability and metering display
The disclosure provides a system and method for metering on a prepaid wireless access point the amount of data transferred between a wireless device and the Internet and inhibiting further data transmission when the amount of prepaid data available reaches or drops below a pre-determined threshold. Specifically, the wireless access point includes a metering client to track one of data usage or an amount of prepaid data available. When the metering client indicates that the amount of data available has dropped below a pre-determined threshold, the wireless access point inhibits further data transmission.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENABLING OPTIMIZED REPORTING RELATED TO POLICY CONTROL REQUEST TRIGGERS
A first network device may receive, from a second network device, a first policy control create request and may provide, to the second network device, a common policy control request trigger. The first network device may receive a second policy control create request associated with a user equipment (UE) and may cause a UE policy to be provided to the UE. The first network device may receive, from a third network device, a third policy control create request and may provide a network device policy to the third network device. The first network device may receive, from the second network device, a policy control update request based on the common policy control request trigger and may generate an updated UE policy or an updated network device policy based on the policy control update request.
COLLABORATIVE POLICY MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES AT A MOBILE DEVICE
A method is provided. The method includes electing a mobile device optimization strategy at a mobile device, web interface, or through direction to the provider. In exchange for a user selecting the mobile device optimization strategy, a network or service provider provides one or more plan-related incentives. A related system and mobile device are also disclosed.
METHOD FOR PERFORMING CHARGING PROCESSING ON GUARANTEED DATA SERVICE, SYSTEM, AND RELATED DEVICE
A charging processing method is provided and includes: obtaining QoS of a guaranteed data service of a user and a guarantee status of the QoS, performing charging processing on charging data of the guaranteed data service based on the information, when the guarantee status of the QoS changes or a guarantee notification switch status of the QoS changes, disabling a counter in a timely manner, and separately processing charging data that exists before the change and charging data that exists after the change. In this way, an operator can accurately perform charging on the guaranteed data service “based on the guarantee status”, to improve user experience. In addition, the operator can obtain revenue corresponding to occupied network resources.
Real-time Determination of a Service Cost
This disclosure describes, in part, systems and techniques for retrieving complex data from multiple data sources corresponding to a current cost of consumable materials and a current cost of labor used to provide a service. Once retrieved, the system may determine a total current cost of the consumable materials and a total current cost of the labor. Furthermore, the system may use the total current cost of the consumable materials and the total current cost of the labor to determine an overall current cost of the service. The system may simultaneously provide an overall current cost of multiple services.
Method and apparatus for content presentation in association with a telephone call
A method and apparatus are provided for presenting multimedia content to a caller and/or a called party in association with a telephone call. Content may be presented pre-ring (before the called party's telephone rings), in-call, and/or post-call. Content presented to a party may be related to another party participating in the call or may be related to a third party (e.g., an advertiser that paid for the ability to have its content presented). Presented content may be actuable, to allow a caller to change the destination of a call, take advantage of an offer presented to him or her, redeem a coupon, schedule or queue a subsequent call, etc. To find a desired destination party, a caller may initiate a manual or automatic search of his or her local contacts (on his telephone) and/or a central or global directory or contact list.
