Suture anchor with soft anchor of electrospun fibers
A flexible anchor for coupling a suture to a bone is provided. The anchor is composed of non-woven electrospun fibers and has an elongate tubular body that extends from a first end to a second end. The anchor is configured to receive a suture that enters the anchor through a first aperture and exits the anchor through a second aperture. When free ends of the suture are pulled, the anchor transitions from a first configuration to a second anchoring configuration.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR THE TREATMENT OF WOUNDS
The methods and compositions described herein address the need in the art by providing peptides and polypeptides comprising a growth factor binding domain. In some embodiments, the peptides have an amino acid sequence that is at least 80% identical to one of SEQ ID NOS:1-7, 13-15, 49-50, or 66-70, or a fragment thereof; wherein the peptide is less than 300 amino acids in length.
Formation of stable cartilage
Methods are provided for promoting cartilage growth and/or repair. The methods include, administering locally to a site in a subject in need thereof, bone marrow stromal cells attached to fibrin microbeads comprising crosslinked hyaluronic acid and thereby producing stable cartilage locally at the site in the subject.
Vascular access channel and methods
An embodiment includes a vascular port comprising: first and second portions that are not monolithic with each other; wherein: (a)(i) the first portion includes a first arcuate surface to contour to a first portion of a vessel and the second portion includes a second arcuate surface to contour to a second portion of the vessel; (a)(ii) the first and second portions couple to one another around the vessel when implanted to form a central chamber that houses the vessel; (a)(iii) the first portion includes a port that includes a funnel with a funnel surface that narrows as the funnel surface approaches the central chamber; (a)(iv) the central chamber includes a central longitudinal axis and the funnel includes a central vertical axis that is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis; (a)(v) the second portion includes a hardened, non-compliant surface that intersects the vertical axis.
Protection and delivery of multiple therapeutic proteins
Compositions are provided herein comprising a coacervate of a polycationic polymer, a polyanionic polymer, and platelet-rich plasma and/or serum, or a fraction or concentrate thereof. The composition is useful in wound healing. Compositions also are provided that comprise a hydrogel comprising TIMP-3; and a complex of a polycationic polymer, a polyanionic polymer, FGF-2 and SDF-1 embedded in the hydrogel, which is useful in treating a myocardial infarction.
IMPLANTABLE LUBRICATION DEVICE AND METHOD OF TREATING A HUMAN OR MAMMAL PATIENT BY MEANS OF THE DEVICE
A lubrication device for lubricating a joint of a human or mammal patient, which is entirely implantable in a patient's body, comprises a reservoir for storing a lubricating fluid and a fluid connection for introducing the lubricating fluid into the joint when the device is implanted in the patient's body. Further, the fluid connection comprises a fluid connection device connecting the reservoir with the joint such that a lubricating fluid flow is established from the reservoir into the joint. The fluid connection comprises either an infusion needle adapted to be intermittently placed into the joint for injecting the lubricating fluid, or a tube adapted to be permanently placed into the joint for continuously injecting the lubricating fluid.
Medical products and methods configured for controlled release of nitric oxide
The disclosure concerns various medical devices implemented to provide a nitric oxide rich environment for anti-microbial or anti-thrombogenic benefits. The medical device generally includes a nitric oxide donor material that is contained within a sealed cavity, and a transport medium that defines and captivates the entirety of the cavity, wherein the transport medium is permeable to both water and nitric oxide. As the nitric oxide donor material becomes saturated with water from the surrounding tissue or fluids, nitric oxide is chemically released, and the resulting nitric oxide is communicated through the transport medium to a treatment site for anti-microbial and anti-thrombogenic benefits.
BLOOD PRODUCT FOR PREVENTING SURGICAL ADHESION
A method for preventing surgical adhesion between surfaces that are to be prevented uses a blood product having fibrin. The blood product can be a singled layered blood product having components from plasma, components added to initiate a coagulation process, and components created during the coagulation process. The products and methods can be used for preventing surgical adhesion, for stopping or reducing bleeding in an open surgical wound, and for treating surgical wounds.
Optic nerve support implant
Ophthalmic implants and methods of use that provide structural support to the optic nerve are disclosed herein. An adhesive and/or ophthalmic implant may be delivered to an optic nerve of an eye to relieve pressure on the optic nerve. The ophthalmic implant may include a base portion that includes a first surface and a second surface opposing the second surface and a protrusion from the second surface for extending into a cup of an optic nerve in an eye.
Implantable lubrication device and method of treating a human or mammal patient by means of the device
