An identification system receives monitored voice calls that are conducted in a communication network. Some of the monitored voice calls may be conducted by target individuals who are predefined as suspects. In order to maintain user privacy, the system selects and retains only voice calls that are suspected of being conducted by predefined targets. The techniques disclosed herein are particularly advantageous in scenarios where the network identifiers of the terminal used by the target are not known, or where the target uses public communication devices. In accordance with the disclosure, context-based identifiers such as speaker recognition or keyword matching are used.

A system for multilingual authentication access to a communication system in a controlled environment is disclosed. The system includes a communication subsystem that connects a communication between a first communication device and a second communication device, wherein the first communication device is used by the inmate of the correctional facility. The system also includes a profile subsystem configured to store profile information of the inmate associated with the first communication device. The system further includes an authentication subsystem that provides a challenge question to the first communication device based on the profile information and an accommodation of the inmate that affects authentication, receives a response to challenge question and a voice sample from the first communication device, verifies the response and the voice sample, and authorizes connection of the communication between the first communication device and the second communication device based on verification of the response and the voice sample.

A facility and method for analyzing and classifying calls without transcription via keyword spotting is disclosed. The facility uses a group of calls having known outcomes to generate one or more domain- or entity-specific grammars containing keywords and related information that are indicative of particular outcome. The facility monitors telephone calls by determining the domain or entity associated with the call, loading the appropriate grammar or grammars associated with the determined domain or entity, and tracking keywords contained in the loaded grammar or grammars that are spoken during the monitored call, along with additional information. The facility performs a statistical analysis on the tracked keywords and additional information to determine a classification for the monitored telephone call.
