Determining a topological location of a client device using received radio signatures

A network system, such as a transport management system, efficiently allocates resources by monitoring the geospatial and topological locations of a rider responsive to receiving a trip request. A trip management module matches a rider with an available driver based in part on an comparison of the estimated times of arrival of the rider and the driver at the pickup location. A client positioning module monitors the rider's progress through nodes and edges in a topological graph associated with the origin location based on radio signatures received at the rider client device. A client ETA module calculates a rider ETA based on the rider's rate of travel through the origin location represented by nodes in the topological graph. Responsive to determining that the rider ETA and the driver ETA vary by over a threshold amount of time, the trip management module matches the rider with a second available driver.

REAL-TIME CRIME CENTER SOLUTION WITH DISPATCH DIRECTED DIGITAL MEDIA PAYLOADS

A cloud-based real-time crime center with dispatch directed digital media payloads configured to support both emergency dispatchers and emergency responders responding to an incident requiring assistance. The new dispatch system is “cloud-based” in that it provides a central hub or repository for gathering live video streams and data streams that are processed to fuse them together to provide a map-based interface for the dispatcher to access via a desktop or other computing station at a central agency location and for the responders in the field to access via vehicle-mounted or portable client devices. The dispatch system processes the video and data streams to generate a dispatch directed payload that includes data and video relevant to the identified incident and that can be readily communicated (due to its reduced or controlled size) to field responders to make their response more effective and to increase both the safety of the responders and those involved in the incident.

Method for managing the routing of a call intended for a first communication terminal, method for routing said call and corresponding devices.

A method and apparatus for call forwarding. Some communication services make it possible to transfer a telephone call intended for a communication terminal to another communication terminal. Such services are referred to as call forwarding services. The user seeking to avail of call forwarding must manually configure the forwarding of calls intended for their landline to the communication terminal of their choice. The configuration operations are performed directly on the landline and are tedious. There is thus a significant risk of input error. Furthermore, when the user seeks to end call forwarding, they must once again manually configure their landline. According to the method, call forwarding is activated according to fulfilment of activation conditions. Contextual information collection by the user's communication terminal is used to determine fulfilment of the activation conditions. Thus, such a solution offers flexibility, adaptability and ease of use for the user.

GNSS phone-based automated emergency assistance calling for vehicular applications

A phone device monitors an accelerometer while traveling in a vehicle to detect unusually large excursions or sudden changes in acceleration magnitude. When such an excursion is detected, the phone device then compares the excursion with the output of other components in the vehicle that can confirm or dispel a finding that the vehicle has experienced a collision. Once a likely collision has been detected, the phone device goes into an automated assistance mode where the use can be voice prompted as to their condition. If no response is received, the phone device can automatically call emergency services for assistance, providing the present location of the phone device. In less severe incidents, the phone device can automatically offer immediate access to other services, include a towing service, an attorney, an automobile service, among others. The service providers are based on a geo-fenced region in which the phone device is located.

The present invention provides a system, method and apparatus for initiating and handling an emergency IP request using an IP enabled device having GPS capability. The IP enabled device is monitored for one or more emergency criteria. If the emergency criteria are satisfied, global positioning data is obtained using the GPS capability and the emergency IP request is sent to an address server. The address server receives the emergency IP request, obtains local emergency services data based on the global positioning data, dials a call center station based on the local emergency services data and passes an emergency call from the IP enabled device to the call center station. This invention can be implemented as a computer program embedded in a computer readable medium wherein the steps are performed by one or more code segments.

Enhancements of and to cell phone operations are based in whole or in part on determining the location of the cell phone. Systems and methods select and determine locations or areas of importance or relevance, and based on that information and other programmed factors affect or alter the operations of the cell phone. While the systems and methods are illustrated by use of cell phone embodiments and applications, they are equally applicable to virtually any portable or mobile communication device, including for example, wireless laptop computers and PDAs.
