PERSONAL EMERGENCY TRIGGERING, NOTIFICATION AND COMMUNICATION FOR SMARTWATCHES
20200404090 · 2020-12-24 ·

A personal safety service notifies a pre-defined group of emergency contacts about an occurrence of emergency associated with a user. To do so, a personal safety service server comprising a processing device and a memory receives an indication of the emergency and a location of the emergency from a wearable mobile device and sends a notification message via a push notification displayed on user devices of a predefined group of emergency contacts indicating the occurrence of the emergency. The personal safety service server periodically receives updates to the location of the wearable mobile device from the personal safety service client application.

Conference participant location and device identification

One embodiment provides a method, including: receiving, in a conferencing application, an indication to contact a conference participant; accessing, using a processor, context data associated with the conference participant, wherein the context data identifies a likely location of the conference participant; identifying, at the likely location, an electronic device associated with the conference participant; and contacting the conference participant via the electronic device. Other aspects are described and claimed.

Conference participants are selected via a network element in a network, the geographical area locations, for example, buildings of an enterprise, of the conference participants are determined and depending on the determined locations a geographical conference area, for example a conference room is determined for each conference participant. The conference area together with the conference information is communicated to the conference participants. The availability of the conference participants can be checked for the communication.

Application-based two-way tracking and mapping function with selected individuals

A system for exchanging GPS or other position data between wireless devices for purposes of group activities, child location monitoring, work group coordination, dispatching of employees etc. Cell phones and other wireless devices with GPS receivers have loaded therein a Buddy Watch application and a TalkControl application. The Buddy Watch application communicates with the GPS receiver and other wireless devices operated by buddies registered in the users phone as part of buddy groups or individually. GPS position data and historical GPS position data can be exchanged between cell phones of buddies and instant buddies such as tow truck drivers via a buddy watch server. Emergency monitoring services can be set up with notifications to programmable individuals in case an individual does not respond. Positions and tracks can be displayed. TalkControl simplifies and automates the process of joining talk groups for walkie talkie services such as that provided by Nextel.

Robust Estimation of Sound Source Localization
20200374628 · 2020-11-26 ·

A method for sound source localization in a digital system having at least two audio capture devices is provided that includes receiving audio signals from the two audio capture devices, computing a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for each frequency band of a plurality of frequency bands in a processing frame of the audio signals, determining a frequency band weight for each frequency band of the plurality of frequency bands based on the SNR computed for the frequency band, computing an estimated time delay of arrival (TDOA) of sound for the processing frame using the frequency band weights, and converting the estimated TDOA to an angle representing sound direction.

Realtime, interactive and geographically defined computerized personal identification and payment matching methods

In general, the invention relates to a system and method of operating a shopping system to facilitate payment using a mobile device. A network is configured to include a server programmed with a personal characteristic database, a database searching algorithm, and to be coupled to a wireless communication system that is capable of communicating with the user's personal data device. The user logs on through the wireless communication system to the secure network using her personal data device, and communicates to and stores in the database personal data defining her characteristics. Either the secure network automatically identifies the first users precise geographic location, or the user himself otherwise indicates and stores in the database of the network an identifying address that indicates his current specific geographic location. Personal data defining the user's characteristics are then sent to a business location at the user's location to facilitate a payment transaction.

Emergency reporting device and system

Techniques for updating data operations in a perception system are discussed herein. A vehicle may use a perception system to capture data about an environment proximate to the vehicle. The perception system may receive image data, lidar data, and/or radar data to determine information about an object in the environment. As different sensors may be associated with different time periods for capturing and/or processing operations, the techniques include updating object data with data from sensors associated with a shorter time period to generate intermediate object data. Such intermediate object data may reduce a delay in updating a position of an object in an environment, which may improve reaction time(s) and/or safety outcomes in systems implementing such perception systems, such as an autonomous vehicle.

System and method for cadence matching at answering service or the like

A call from a caller to a called party is forwarded to an answering service. A cadence of the call is determined, and an agent is selected to answer the call. To select the agent, a cadence of the selected agent is determined, and the determined cadence of the selected agent is matched to the determined cadence of the call. In particular, the called party has a geographic location associated therewith, and the selected agent has a cadence that matches a cadence associated with the determined geographic location. Contact between the selected agent and the call is then effectuated. The matched cadence is expected to heighten a connection the caller perceives from the selected agent.

Techniques for providing SOS call routing for emergency calls

Techniques for providing SOS call routing for emergency calls are disclosed. One example system includes a first computing device that receives a message including identification information from a telephony endpoint; and retrieves location information for an IoT device based on the message. The system includes a second computing device that receives a call from the telephony endpoint that includes call information. The first computing device receives a notification of the call from the second computing device that includes the call information; verifies the call is associated with the message based on the identification information and call information; and generates instructions for the second computing device that includes forwarding the call using the location and callback information to a public safety answering point (PSAP). The second computing device receives the instructions from the first computing device and forwards the call with the emergency information to the PSAP, which services a location of the IoT device.

System and method for tracking a mobile device user

According to various embodiments, a method for locating the user of a mobile device without accessing global position system (GPS) data is disclosed. The method includes determining the last location that the user was connected to a wireless network. The method further includes compiling publicly-available auxiliary information related to the last location. The method additionally includes classifying an activity of the user to driving, traveling on a plane, traveling on a train, or walking. The method also includes estimating the location of the user based on sensory and non-sensory data of the mobile device particular to the activity classification of the user.
