METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DELIVERY OF APPLICATION SERVICES
Systems and processes that incorporate teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a request for a streaming video application service from a mobile device and, responsive to determining a relationship between a service provider of a wireless access point and a service provider of a cellular network providing the streaming video application service via the cellular services. Responsive to determining that the wireless access point is in a communication range of the mobile device based on a proximity of the wireless access point to the mobile device, a communication session is initiated between the mobile device and the wireless access point. Delivery of the streaming video application service to the mobile device is switched from over the cellular network to over the wireless access point. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Security and Public Safety Application for a Mobile Device
A computer-implemented method for tracking a user includes: configuring a client device for entering: a starting point for a trip, a destination, mode of transportation, and indication of starting the trip; configuring the server for identifying a preferred route based upon: a distance of the trip, a crime rate of areas between the starting point and destination, and the mode of transportation; configuring the server for calculating an allotted time for the trip; configuring the client device for continuously transmitting its location to the server; configuring the server for continuously monitoring the location of the client device; configuring the client device for selectively transmitting an alarm message to the server when the client device deviates beyond a threshold amount from the preferred route or the allotted time for the trip; and configuring the server for notifying a family member and local police when the panic alarm message is received.
INFORMATION PROCESSING TERMINAL AND AUTOMATIC RESPONSE METHOD
The information processing terminal that performs automatic response, comprises: a database configured to store personal information of a user of the information processing terminal; a receiver configured to receive an access and a message from an access partner; an automatic response unit configured to, after receiving the access, perform a request to the access partner to transmit the message when an operation in response to the access is not input in the information processing terminal, and create a response to the message which has been received in response to the request; and a transmitter configured to transmit the response to the access partner, wherein the automatic response unit includes: an intention recognition unit configured to recognize an intension of the message; and a response creation unit configured to create a response to the message by referring to the intension of the message and the personal information.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT RESULTING FROM A VEHICLE CRASH
A method for detecting airbag deployment includes operating a plurality of sensors of the mobile device disposed in a vehicle during a drive to obtain a plurality of measurement signals, determining a change in at least one measurement signal of the plurality of measurement signals and that the change exceeds a first threshold. In response to determining that the change exceeds the first threshold, obtaining a pressure measurement signal from a pressure sensor of the plurality of sensors, determining a derivative of the pressure measurement signal, and determining that the derivative of the pressure measurement signal exceeds a second threshold. In response to determining that the derivative of the pressure measurement signal exceeds the second threshold, detecting a deployment of a vehicle airbag based on the change in the at least one measurement signal exceeding the first threshold and the derivative of the pressure measurement signal exceeding the second threshold.

Integrated telecommunications handset
A rugged, ergonomic integrated telecommunications handset includes an electronic controller that interoperates and controls the universal remote control (URC), which connects to multiple radios simultaneously. The controller downloads options which are implemented by the controller. The handset has an ability to vibrate in a silent mode, and has a memory capacity, as well as GPS capacity. Ergonomically, the handset has a pair of side arrays of protruding ribs, which enhance gripping, preventing the handset from falling out of the user's hands, even if the user has gloves on in inclement weather conditions in the field. While compatible with the latest radio system software defined dual net and dual channel radio equipment, the handset is also backward compatible with single radios or with two or more separate radios.
Process for real-time data exchange
A process for real-time data exchange allows for sharing data, including metadata such as user data and phone data, between multiple handsets so that handsets may automatically display such data upon initiation or establishment of a telephone call, and in some arrangements throughout the life of the call. In this way, the need for subsequent data transmissions is reduced or eliminated, making bandwidth usage more efficient and conserving battery power.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LEVERAGING TEXT MESSAGES IN A MOBILE-BASED CROWDSOURCING PLATFORM
The present invention includes a system for providing a mobile-based crowdsourcing platform configured to provide an intuitive and semi-automated means of collecting and managing user-driven data by leveraging text messages. The crowdsourcing platform is configured to leverage a Short Message Service (SMS) communication system for generating and transmitting command text messages to mobile devices of users of the service. The command text messages essentially elicit or otherwise train/educate the user's mobile device to automatically transmit requested data back to the crowdsourcing platform, the requested data including the location or position of the user within a given environment.
Electronic device and method for providing location data
An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a user interface, a location sensor configured to sense a location of the electronic device, a processor electrically connected with the user interface and the location sensor, and a memory electrically connected with the processor and configured to store a first application program and a second application program. The memory is further configured to store instructions that, when executed, enable the processor to receive first location data with a first degree of accuracy regarding the location of the electronic device from the location sensor, process at least part of the first location data to generate second location data with a second degree of accuracy lower than the first degree of accuracy regarding the location of the electronic device, provide the at least part of the first location data to execute the first application program, and provide at least part of the second location data to execute the second application program.
Time-based check-in for mobile-device applications
This disclosure describes techniques for determining when to transition a service-provider application between an in-store mode of operation and an online mode of operation using time as a proxy for location of a mobile device executing an application. When a user arrives at a physical location of the service provider, the user may provide an indication of this arrival via the application. In response, the application may transition from the online mode of operation to the in-store mode of operation. Further, the application may set a timer for a predefined amount of time and, after this amount of time elapses, may transition from the in-store operation mode back to the online operation mode.
