Volume control for mobile device using a wireless device
A wearable device can facilitate automatic adjustment of a volume control and/or other settings of a host device based on properties of the ambient environment. For example, when a host device generates an audible alert, a wearable device can sample the ambient sound to detect a distinct contribution corresponding to the audible alert; if the contribution is outside acceptable levels, the wearable device can notify the host device to adjust the alert volume and/or other alert characteristics. Adjustments to host-device settings can also be made based on comparing audio signals collected by the host device and the wearable device.

A system and method of determining a tilt angle of a portable computing device using a sensor indicating gravitational pull on the device; determining the tilt angle of a camera of the device; identifying a tilt angle range from a plurality of predetermined tilt angle ranges; determining a first focal length setting using a first array that associates the tilt angle range with the first focal length setting; determining an adjustment increment using a second array that associates the adjustment increment with the tilt angle range; and determining a second focal length setting of the camera using the adjustment increment according to an autofocus scan range algorithm. A portable computing device including a processor; a camera; and a memory device including instructions operable to be executed by the processor to perform a set of actions, enabling the portable computing device to perform the method.

A dialing method for a user terminal is provided. The method includes: detecting, by a user terminal, at least one entering operation performed on a moment indication numeral on a clock dial, where the clock dial is displayed on a standby screen of the user terminal; determining, by the user terminal, a dialing numeral corresponding to the entering operation; generating, by the user terminal, a dialing number according to the dialing numeral; and performing, by the user terminal, a call by using the dialing number as a called number, a user may perform a dialing operation by using the standby screen of the user terminal, and can perform the dialing operation without a need to enter a home screen by using the standby screen and then enter a dialing screen by using the home screen.

In addition, on the basis of a touch input applied to the preview image, the control unit photographs the subject, including an object to which the selected search option is to be applied, and displays, on the display unit, an image of the photographed subject along with a screen where the selected search option is applied.
