A reading apparatus includes: a document platen on which a document is placed; a reading portion configured to read a document placed on the document platen; a cover that is openable and closable between a first position at which the document platen is covered and a second position at which the document is uncovered; and a frame member including a first inclination portion and a second inclination portion, configured to constitute at least a part of an outer frame of the document platen, the first inclination portion being adjacent to the document platen and higher with an increasing distance from the document platen, and the second inclination portion being arranged farther away from the document platen than the first inclination portion and higher with an increasing distance from the document platen.

An image reading apparatus includes a first housing, a second housing, an imaging sensor, a reference member provided to be able to move between a first position facing the imaging sensor and a second position, a cam to make the reference member move, and an abutting member provided to make the cam move. The abutting member is located at a projecting position sticking out from the first housing, to make the cam move so that the reference member moves from the first position to the second position when the second housing is closed with respect to the first housing. The abutting member is provided so as to be able to retract when the second housing is opened and closed with respect to the first housing and abuts against the cam in the state located at the projecting position.

An image reading apparatus includes a first holding member that is provided with a first holding surface opposed to a placement surface, a second holding member that is provided with a second holding surface opposed to the placement surface, a guide member that is disposed on a front side of the first holding member and the second holding member, and an imaging unit that capture a medium placed on the placement surface, wherein the guide member is provided with a guide surface coupled to the first holding surface and the second holding surface and is disposed such that a distance from the placement surface to a first portion of the guide surface is smaller than a distance from the placement surface to a second portion of the guide surface disposed closer to the front side than the first portion.

A medium-discharging device includes: a device main body including a medium-discharging section that discharges a medium; a medium-receiving tray that receives the medium discharged by the medium-discharging section; and a pressing member that is configured to be attached to and detached from to the device main body and presses the medium discharged by the medium-discharging section against the medium-receiving tray in a state in which the pressing member is attached to the device main body, in which the pressing member is configured to switch, in the state in which the pressing member is attached to the device main body, between a first state in which the pressing member comes into contact with the medium-receiving tray and a second state in which the pressing member retreats upward so as to be apart from the medium-receiving tray.

A recording apparatus includes a reading unit reading a medium transported through a medium transportation path and a pair of frames supporting the reading unit. The pair of frames includes a first frame and a second frame that is disposed with an interval provided between the first frame and the second frame in the width direction, at least one of the first frame and the second frame is provided with an opening portion penetrable by the reading unit, and the first frame and the second frame support the reading unit penetrating, via the opening portion, the first frame and the second frame while being disposed between the first frame and the second frame.

An image-forming apparatus includes, in a body having a predetermined house, an image-reading unit and an image-forming unit that is configured to form an image read by the image-reading unit. A discharge portion is configured to discharge a sheet on which the image was formed onto a discharge tray. An intra-apparatus-discharge space is formed in the body between the image-reading unit and the image-forming unit. At least a portion of a surface of the housing at a region of the consumption article mounting portion has a light-transmissive property. When the consumption article is consumed and needs to be replenished, the operator can visually check the region of the consumption article mounting portion in the housing from the outside of the body through the transparent portion.

An image reading apparatus includes a transparent member including a document placing surface on which a document is placed, a document pressing portion that presses the document placed on the transparent member against the transparent member, a pivot supporting portion that pivotably supports the document pressing portion so as to be pivotable about a pivot shaft with respect to a casing of the image reading apparatus, an image reading unit, an abutment portion against which an edge portion of the document placed on the document placing surface is abutted in order to position the document at a reference position, and an inclined surface. The abutment portion is provided at one portion of a front end on a side far from the pivot supporting portion. An image forming apparatus that utilizes a communication device is disclosed. A communication unit of a housing which corresponds to an antenna portion is provided at a position at which the communication unit can be seen without obstruction from the upper side. A communication device such as a smartphone can be brought close to or into contact with the communication unit readily. Accordingly, wireless communication between the antenna portion and the communication device can be established.

A three-dimensional printer for providing additive material to an object in need thereof includes a non-transitory computer memory; a processor in data communication with the computer memory; a material reservoir; an output device in communication with the material reservoir; a scanning device for obtaining existing contour information about the object; and a contour database accessible by the processor which has contour information about the object. The scanning device is in data communication with the processor. Programming causes: (1) the scanning device to obtain the existing contour information; (2) the computer memory to store the obtained existing contour information; and (3) the processor to create a print file based on data from each of: (a) the obtained existing contour information, and (b) the contour database. Further programming selectively actuates the output device, utilizing the print file, to apply the material from the material reservoir to the object in need thereof.
