A divider separates an enclosure into separate compartments that are shaped and sized to maintain sheets of media. A connector is positioned at a first end of the enclosure and the connector is shaped to connect to a document handler. The compartments are positioned to supply and receive the sheets of media to and from the document handler when the enclosure is connected to the document handler. A cover is positioned at the first end of the enclosure. The cover is adapted to open and close and allows access to the compartments. A lock is connected to the cover. The lock maintains the cover in a closed position when locked.

A post-processing apparatus according to an embodiment includes a processing tray, a post-processing section, a sensor, and a control section. A sheet supplied from an image forming apparatus is led into the processing tray through a lead-in path. The post-processing section applies post-processing to the sheet sent from the processing tray. The sensor detects an object passing a detection space in the lead-in path. The control section controls operation of the post-processing section based on a time in which the sensor detects the object.

An image reading device includes a magnetizer that magnetizes a metal object attached to a document, a magnetism detector that is disposed on the downstream side of the magnetizer in a document transport direction from a document stacking table toward the document transport path and detects residual magnetism of the metal object, and a metal object accompaniment determination unit that determines whether or not the metal object is attached to the document based on a detection result by the magnetism detector.

An image scanning apparatus includes an image sensor to scan a manuscript, a transfer apparatus to pick up the manuscript and move the manuscript to a manuscript transfer path, and a loading apparatus to load the manuscript scanned by the image sensor. The loading apparatus includes a discharge tray to hold a discharged manuscript and a guide member to have one end rotatably disposed on the manuscript above an upper part of the discharge tray at an angle formed relative to the discharge tray based on a type of the manuscript.
