A position of the mark on a pressing surface of the cover, is provided at a position at which, in a case where a sheet of a maximum size among standard sizes that can entirely fit in a readable range of the reader is positioned with respect to the positioning member, at least a portion of the mark is not hidden by the sheet as viewed from the reader.

An image forming apparatus, in which an image forming method is performed, includes an image forming device to form an image on a recording medium, a reading device to scan the recording medium having a mark and generate a scanned image, and circuitry to calculate a correction value to adjust a position of the image to be formed on the recording medium, based on the scanned image. The circuitry calculates the correction value to adjust a position of an image to be formed on a second face of the recording medium based on a first scanned image generated from a first face of the recording medium, within a period from when the first scanned image is generated from the first face to when the image starts to be formed on the second face.

An image captured by a camera can be processed by a scanning application to identify one or more regions within the image that are suitable for scanning. One or more of these regions can be selected for scanning automatically based on user-input such as a fingertip touch to a particular portion of the display screen. Users may also select multiple regions and submit multiple quadrangular regions for scanning to PDF from a single image.

An image forming apparatus comprises a tray, a conveyor, a detector and a movement mechanism. The tray accommodates at least one document. The conveyor conveys the document placed on the tray. The detector detects that the document is placed on the tray. The movement mechanism moves the tray from a first position to a second position closer to the conveyor than the first position based on the detection that the document is placed on the tray, and after moving the tray from the first position to the second position, moves the tray to the first position based on a setting of a mixed stacking mode in which mixing of the documents with different sizes on the tray is permitted.

A projection apparatus comprises: a first laser beam source configured to output a visible laser beam; a second laser beam source configured to output an invisible laser beam; a scan unit configured to project an image by scanning a projection surface using the visible laser beam output from the first laser beam source and the invisible laser beam output from the second laser beam source; and a control unit configured to control a timing at which the first laser beam source outputs the visible laser beam and a timing at which the second laser beam source outputs the invisible laser beam so that, in a period corresponding to a target pixel in the image, the visible laser beam is output in a first period and the invisible laser beam is output in a second period different from the first period.

An image inspection system includes: an image former that forms an image on a sheet based on image data including a common area and a variable area set therein, wherein a same image is to be printed in the common area on multiple print pages, and a variable image that differs between the multiple print pages is to be printed in the variable area; an image reader that generates a read image by reading the formed image; a hardware processor that generates an inspection image used to perform image inspection, based on a first read image generated; and a hardware processor that inspects a second read image generated, based on a difference between the second read image and the inspection image, excluding the area designated by a user as an exception to inspection.

An image forming apparatus including: a measurer which measures a physical property of a medium on which an image is formed; an image forming operator which forms the image on the medium; a reader which reads the formed image; and a hardware processor which specifics a medium type based on a measurement result by the measurer and a reading result by the reader.

A printing apparatus includes a first feeding roller, a feeding motor configured to drive the first feeding roller, a second feeding roller, a conveyance roller, a conveyance motor configured to drive the conveyance roller, a printing unit configured to print the printing sheet, a detection sensor configured to detect the leading edge of the printing sheet, and a control unit configured to, when the printing unit performs a printing operation on a preceding sheet, drive the feeding motor in synchronization with the conveyance motor before the detection sensor detects the leading edge of a succeeding sheet, and continuously drive the feeding motor so that the conveying speed of the succeeding sheet by the feeding motor becomes higher than that of the preceding sheet after the detection sensor detects the leading edge of the succeeding sheet.

An image reading apparatus includes an image sensor to read a document, a sensor to detect whether the document is loaded on the image reading apparatus, and a processor to, when the sensor detects the document is loaded on the image reading apparatus, and before a scan instruction is input to the image reading apparatus, control the image sensor to execute a pre-scan job with respect to the loaded document using a default set value.

An image forming apparatus includes a light transmitting member provided at a reading position set in a conveyance path and an opposite plate opposed thereto, and a document being conveyed passes between this opposite plate and the light transmitting member. On an opposing surface of the opposite plate to the light transmitting member, a low brightness area, for example, like a gray color and a high brightness area, for example, like a white color, having a higher brightness than the low brightness area are formed adjacent to each other in a conveyance direction of the document. Then, an image reader sets a home position of a scanning unit to a first position or a second position corresponding to either the low brightness area or the high brightness area to read the document passing through the reading position.
