The second sub-controller includes a second interruption information memory that stores second interruption information output from the second devices, and a second interruption controller that transmits an interruption signal upon storing of the second interruption information in the second interruption information memory, and reads and transmits the second interruption information. The first sub-controller includes a first interruption information memory that stores first interruption information output from the first devices, and the second interruption information transmitted from the second sub-controller, and a first interruption controller that transmits the interruption signal received from the second sub-controller, and reads and transmits the first interruption information and the second interruption information stored in the first interruption information memory.

An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus; an option feeding device, wherein to a lower portion of the option feeding device, another option feeding device is connectable; an installation member; a controller; a communicating portion; an engaging portion; and an engagement detecting portion. On the basis of a communication result by the communicating means and a detection result by the engagement detecting means, the controller acquires first information on whether or not the installation member is connected to the image forming apparatus. On the basis of the communication result by the communicating means, the controller acquires second information on a number of the option feeding devices connected to the image forming apparatus. On the basis of the first information and the second information, the controller is capable of executing restricting processing for restricting image formation by the image forming apparatus.

This disclosure provides a method and system of providing a supplemental user interface (UI) operatively associated with a device, such as a multifunctional device (MFD) or multifunctional printer (MFP). According to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, an accessibility UI is provided by a portable computer device, e.g., off-the-shelf tablet, where the table includes a container application including a collection of walk-up user applications to operate the MFD, a set of tablet user environment' configuration applications and a set of helper applications that operate in the background and/or provide transitory screens, such as authentication for operating the MFD.

An information processing apparatus can be worn by a user of an image forming apparatus, and includes a camera, a visual line detecting portion, a target image recognizing portion, a positional condition determining portion, and a wireless communication portion. The target image recognizing portion, when a positional condition among setting conditions for image-formation-related processes is specified, recognizes an image of a specification target that is included in a visual field image photographed by the camera, the specification target being a target of specification of the positional condition. The positional condition determining portion determines a specified positional condition based on a position in the image of the specification target recognized by the target image recognizing portion, the position corresponding to the visual line direction detected by the visual line detecting portion. The wireless communication portion wirelessly transmits information of the specified positional condition to the image forming apparatus.

The printing apparatus includes a data transmission unit configured to transmit, to the printhead, a clock signal of a predetermined period and a data signal. The printhead includes a reception unit configured to receive the clock signal and the data signal, and an information transmission unit configured to transmit, to the printing apparatus, information concerning a reception result of the reception unit. When the data transmission unit transmits control data of the printing element as the data signal, a first period is set as the predetermined period. When the data transmission unit transmits, as the data signal, connection confirmation data for confirming connection of the printhead to the printing apparatus, a second period longer than the first period is set as the predetermined period.

A method of receiving data from a first component of an imaging device, by a second component of the imaging device, comprising: determining, by the second component, indirect data from a feature of a communication between the first and second components of the imaging device, wherein the communication is a data line communication. A supply item for an imaging device configured to receive data from a first component of the imaging device by determining indirect data from a feature of a communication between the first component of the imaging device and the supply item, wherein the communication is a data line. Alternatively, the supply item is configured to send data to the first component of the imaging device by converting indirect data into a feature of a communication and causing the communication to occur between the first component and the supply item, wherein the communication is a data line.

An image reading device includes: an image reading unit that moves in a scanning direction and thus reads a document; a control unit that controls the image reading unit; and a cable that electrically couples the image reading unit and the control unit to each other, the cable including a curved portion and being folded so that a folded ridge faces outward at the curved portion, in a fold region folded along a longitudinal direction, the image reading unit and the control unit not being electrically coupled in the fold region.
